An easy way to get even runnier sunny side up eggs is to add a tablespoon of water and cover with a lid to steam on high heat after the outer whites are set. This cooks the thicker parts of the whites much more quickly while leaving the yolk completely liquid. However you dont get the crust but for me thats a plus.

I thought that a long as your eggs are fresh, the whites won't spread all over. When I bought eggs at the grocery, regardless of the fresh date, there were issues sometimes. Now I have chickens that are fed an organic diet and pasture raised so fresh delicious eggs are available. For a crispy bottom edge egg, I used a mixture of butter and light olive oil in a screaming hot pan. When the egg goes in, cut the heat (gas stove), add lid and check after a minute or so. Eggs are nature's perfect food.

I want to thank you for this! I am starting to learn to cook again after I didn't dare for years due to my ocd, especially eggs. Yesterday I decided to make a simple dish with an egg and this video came on a little later. Not only did it tell me how to make the egg, but it made me calm bc I knew what I was doing and the video is calm within itself. It was really tasty!

I recommend putting a generous amount of oil on a pan and putting it on high heat for a bit. Then after a minute or two crack your egg and immediately set the temperature to low. The oil will bubble a little bit. The bottom of the egg will cook fast so once the egg turns white, you should flip it and let it cook for a few seconds. Then remove your egg.

If you have to use oil on a non stick use butter it actually increases the flavor and if you’re covering it it helps to actually firm it more but depends on both oil and butter
