This is an intermediate advanced ballet barre that is inspired by the ballet Swan Lake. It is quite the balance and core challenge, so pace yourself! We focus on alignment, technique, strength, and artistry. Use good form but have fun with it!

Hi I'm Kathryn!
I am a former soloist with the New York City Ballet and Miami City Ballet. When I was a young student, I was always looking for insights into the ballet world and how to improve my dancing as well as beauty and lifestyle tips. Now that I am a professional, it is my turn to share.
On my channel I make ballet, beauty, and lifestyle videos for everyone of all ages. My goal is help dancers improve and achieve their dreams as well as open up the ballet world to non dancers. Let's bring the joy back to ballet! My first teacher used to say that barre isn't just exercises, it's a real dance (with a little "partner"). Inspired barres like this one help me to dance with the music using my whole heart. Thank you for creating this.

I did this barre and I really loved it! It was hard but not tooo hard!❤I managed!🎉 My favourite exercise was 43:49 and 46:48 it was great!❤

I adored this! The black swan stuff was so much fun. Such a good idea to turn Sean arms into a ‘not-grabbing-the-barre’ exercise. My only issue was blind as I am, I couldn’t see a white dancer against a white background. I’m a French teacher and retired dancer and I’m doing a video on what all the ballet terms mean in actual French and where we use those words in the language - I will so give you a shout out so anybody who is interested in the ballet know where to come x thank you our very own Odette/Odile xx

I'm feeling quite happy. I've actually reached a point in my dancing where I feel like I'm comfortable enough to do these intermediate/advanced barres without feeling completely lost! Yay! It's especially fun to do these themed ones- it's like a taste of actually dancing in Swan Lake. Thank you for a lovely barre. I'm looking forward to trying out the center portion.

I love this bar however... it was super challenging for e because I have very long arms (and 'm using a chair as my bar) so for every 2md or third round when we did swan arms I had to quickly push the chair out the way so my arms wouldn't hit it. Quite a feat! But grateful i got to the end unscathed. :)

OmG the swan lake piano music is just.... WOW Katie. You're gorgeous and amazing as usual. Are there ballet exercises which can be done by people with knee challenges though? If you know some isolation exercises to help strengthen legs and glutes and muscles in thighs without the strain on knees... or not too strenuous to knees. 😊 I'll try this once I've recovered from the swollen knees.

Just a thought: Have you considered joining Ballet West? I mean, you're right there! Another option might be Colorado Ballet. They have a gorgeous new studio complex that was built right before COVID. Denver is a beautiful city to live in, plus I would be able to see you live! Finally, I would like to say that as a former pro ballet & theatre dancer myself, I have never seen you look more beautiful. I honestly don't know where the head is at with these ballet company administrators and directors. However, I do know this: You will keep moving forward with new technology, paradigms and business models, while they will just ultimately be left behind. Cheers!

Hi Kathryn. Is there anyway that you could do a short video on the ballet body positions? I am really struggling to get them memorized. None of the teachers I have ever had really took the time to teach them. Is there anything you can do to help? Blessings and Merde'!
