Mr. JustAGuyWithALightsaber I met him, although he was dressed as a scarecrow at the time - early 1980’s. I was very young at the time but he was super nice to me too :)

I once woke up and thought Jon Pertwee was lying next to me in bed and when I rubbed my eyes, I realised I left a mop on my bed.

Jon said that it doesn't matter if something has been going for years, and they still watch it after watching it for years, if the standards go down it should come off,...why the hell is Eastenders is still on !!!

Great stuff. Anybody watch the ads. They show this wrap you put round pies to stop the pastry going soggy in microwaves. It took me back. The fecking amount of times I burnt me gob on microwaved pies with molten lava fillings

I’m so glad Kathy mentioned being in panto with George Takei. It was December 1987 to January 1988. It was Aladdin at The Hexagon in Reading and I was there, the day after Boxing Day. Frankie Howerd was to play the Genie Of The Ring and Kathy Staff was Widow Twankey. There was supposed to be a bit of comedy romance with the two. Frankie had to cancel in order to have an operation on his legs, so George Takei stood in. He was very good but he clearly had little time to prepare and seemed a little bit out of his comfort zone with panto. He had to sing a duet with Kathy - You’re My Little Coochie Face, which I think would have worked better with Howerd. I felt so sorry for Takei as they’d inserted a new bit where Keith Chegwin got Takei and the audience to sing Star Trekkin by The Firm, and Takei clearly hadn’t a clue what the bloody hell was happening - it was a bit cringeworthy. Other notables were Christopher Greener, at the time Britain’s tallest man, as the genie of the lamp, Shreela Ghosh from Eastenders, Keith Chegwin as Wishee Washee and Hilary O’Neil as Aladdin. Keith Chegwin ran around the audience with a soda siphon and sprayed my best trousers with water. It really annoyed me. We all got tickets just to see Frankie Howerd really. It was a shame he had to cancel but, all things considered, George Takei did a good job at the last minute, and I was a big Star Trek fan at the time. I was only ten but I remember it so clearly to this day.

Did that guy actually say "I shall be appearing through the hole in my trousers"?

I bet the stage version had better special effects than the TV show when Jon was on it
@UnchainedEruption7 жыл бұрын
Mike Hunt Actually the show's special effects were really good when he first came on because that's when the show really had to get their things together to bring back falling ratings. And everything was practical effects, no CG at all, so you could argue it's better than a lot of modern Doctor Who special effects, if you ignore the low resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio.

I think you've sort of missed the snark

Jon's hair looks like a wig or a hat but it's REAL.

Jon was always a very dapper, attractive gent. Kathy Tayler seems very nervous here.

Who is the lady presenter? I remember Mike Morris

Mike Morris's face used make me feel ill as a teenager. I think it's that wonky nose and moustache that does it.
