It’s always intrigued me how the public perception of various monsters has changed between the classic era and the modern era. It seems like back then the master was seen as an integral part of the show and the Ice Warriors were seen as being on the same level as the Daleks and Cybermen

A real shame we never got a multi Doctor story with McCoy. Seeing them both fighting to get out the tardis was nice to see.

He usually says “What?” at the end of each episode, but I remember at the end of one episode, instead he cackles like Fred The Baddy.

It just shows how different departments of the Beeb dealt with DW in the late '80's, and then during the Wilderness years, even if it was BBC Pebble Mill, you would hope that if someone told the prop people, we are going to have the Tardis in the studio, the sound and graphics teams would say, yeah no probs, we will make it appear and disappear just like in the show and we'll have a split screen to sell the illusion, but then what do they do, leave quietly and the light didn't flash, and she's popping her head out the door as it fades away, talk about ruining the suspension of disbelief. I can't help but recall the first three tapes in the Years series, Hartnell hosted by Sylvester, who appears Tardis like then Troughton and Pertwee hosted by Jon, also landing like a Tardis, I can see why they didn't for Tom Baker, Colin Baker and Daleks and Cybermen the Early Years, as it would be a bit odd, but for a short time, it was a little bit of fun and a handy transition from the theme music too. Shows like Daytime or Open Air look like they just weren't going to play along.

I just love that terrible, abrupt visual effect at the end when she says bye. 😂

I’m so glad Kathy mentioned being in panto with George Takei. It was December 1987 to January 1988. It was Aladdin at The Hexagon in Reading and I was there, the day after Boxing Day. Frankie Howerd was to play the Genie Of The Ring and Kathy Staff was Widow Twankey. There was supposed to be a bit of comedy romance with the two. Frankie had to cancel in order to have an operation on his legs, so George Takei stood in. He was very good but he clearly had little time to prepare and seemed a little bit out of his comfort zone with panto. He had to sing a duet with Kathy - You’re My Little Coochie Face, which I think would have worked better with Howerd. I felt so sorry for Takei as they’d inserted a new bit where Keith Chegwin got Takei and the audience to sing Star Trekkin by The Firm, and Takei clearly hadn’t a clue what the bloody hell was happening - it was a bit cringeworthy. Other notables were Christopher Greener, at the time Britain’s tallest man, as the genie of the lamp, Shreela Ghosh from Eastenders, Keith Chegwin as Wishee Washee and Hilary O’Neil as Aladdin. Keith Chegwin ran around the audience with a soda siphon and sprayed my best trousers with water. It really annoyed me. We all got tickets just to see Frankie Howerd really. It was a shame he had to cancel but, all things considered, George Takei did a good job at the last minute, and I was a big Star Trek fan at the time. I was only ten but I remember it so clearly to this day.

I agree with Sophie, as getting to work on DR WHO (SURVIVAL) 1989, was amazing, I loved working with her & Sylvester, Julian Holloway, Anthony Ainley, Will Barton , Lisa Bowerman, and others in the cast, and a great crew, it is such an iconic Series, I watched since the mid 60's, and it is as Sophie said, hard to believe we are a part of it's history, I have worked on lots of TV & Film Productions over many years, but Dr WHO will always be one of my personal favourite Acting jobs.

THis is INSULTING!!! The 3rd Doctor deserves MUCH MORE! >:(
