TV as it was years ago...Openings of the popular programs, most from Monday night prime time, with full commercials, including cigarette commercials that were banned in 1971. Shows ran on ABC, CBS, and NBC.

Actually I'm old enough to have been born into the world where many of those shows came from - and, unfortunately, I also live in the world of today. For anyone under 55, the differences are unfathomable.

Most of these ads and shows are from my earliest memories and earlier, but I will say this, at that time the themes and jingles were as much a part of the experience as the programs themselves. TV was still rather young and quite a novelty. These gems are as much a part of our history as any other moments of the era. What a great time to be alive, even with its faults, it was a gentler time.

I do remember most of these shows/commercials. Television was great back then, yes in black n white! The horror pictures used the shadows and shades and made the TV Show/Movie very scary without even showing the deed! Many old time radio shows would use sound effects and the actors tone of voice, that would scare you into next Tuesday, they created an environment ,then let your mind take you away to cringe in fear, or to laugh! Turn the lights off!

Back in the day, I use to drink beer. And when I did it was always a Pabst Blue Ribbon. Best damn beer ever. All my friends who drank Bud and Miller use to laugh, well when they were out and I had beer, they'd sure come crawlin' wanting one of mine........

Still making PBR....What happened to Olympia....Burgermeister? Actually....Not very good stuff compared to what I enjoy these days... But...beer...kind of like...Do you prefer blondes, brunettes, or red heads...? And I always say, 'YES!'

As far as I know, I'm fairly sure they still make Oly, and probably Burgermeister, those names of beer that aren't too common anymore. A couple names you don't hear of anymore because they're now defunct are Falstaff and Fall City. Have you ever heard of Old Frothingslosh (the beer with the foam at the bottom)????

My mom used to send away for a bunch of the toys on cereal box's they had for a time. My favorite and most memorable was from Frosted Flakes, a space man aprox. 1/6 scale that had a retractable line running through it to mimic space walking. The line tangled and broke in no time and I was left disappointed again. lmao.

Mickey Dolenz was starring on Circus Boy in 1958. They show this on Antenna TV weekends at 4and 4:30 PM.

Micky Dolenz was known as Mickey Braddock when he did Circus Boy, before he changed his name back to Micky Dolenz. Dolenz played drums for the band The Monkees, who had their own TV series on NBC (1966-1968).

I knew he was on The Monkees because I had a sitter that loved them. Is the reason he changed his name to Braddock was because Dolenz was Italian? I hear that they had lots of actors change their names to sound more Americanized.

***** I don't know. But, that's how the people at Norbert Productions (through Screen Gems, Inc.) billed him as at the time. I know it sounds strange, but that's how it went in 1956, when Circus Boy started on NBC. I got that from both Wikipedia and the Internet Movie Database (IMDb).
