Nigeria dominated the game up to the end of the first half. Angola's only notable activity was the setpiece that Gilberto headed down, and Mabululu (who was offside) tapped goalwards). It wasn't from any unique or sustained effort. For a team whose captain boasted of how they would beat Nigeria, they were completely outclassed. The expression on Fredy's face as he was substituted tells the story. He did not look upset but perplexed. He couldn't understand what was happening. The same goes for Delson Dala and Mabululu. If you add Gilberto, this is the core of Angola. The Nigerian coach is under so much pressure to prove himself that he prefers to defend a one nil lead once the game is late. He was also trying to give Osimhen an opportunity to score, whereas he was visibly tired. We have other potent strikers who could have come in and scored. Onuachu scored 32 goals in the Belgian league. Iheanacho is a leading member of Leicester City. Terem Moffi is an upcoming striker in France. Besides, Nigeria was unlucky to have missed good chances that were well worked. The only worked chance from Angola was due to Alex Iwobi's laziness. He lost the ball and did not track the player. He allowed him to make a through pass. In the entire game, this was the only real opportunity to Angola. I admit that Angola is a good team. However, they are still in a different tier. They were very fortunate to eliminate Algeria. Algeria did not respect them going into the match, and that cost them.

That was a goal by Osimhen. The VAR did not prove it to be offside. The body language of the ref showed he was biased against Nigeria. We won in the end. We are a better squad than Angola. They had the psychological edge because we are a more well-known team of a country with a football reputation. They had little to lose. However, Super Eagles demoralized them early by their display of football mastery. Their captain gave up. With better composure, we could have scored at least two more goals, perhaps concede one.

Their defense was a little bit "vulnerable" yesterday because of the instructions per their coach to completely put the game beyond the Angolans' reach . They were never under pressure rather there was need to add to the goal scored hence few mistakes by our attackers and strikers that could have resulted into more goals for us. We foiled Angolans' plans-period . Angola became confused and couldn't contain the pressure mounted by The Super Eagles. In reality the score should have been 3-1 in favor of The Super Eagles if all chances were converted.
