S' West States Charged with Increasing Farming Activities, Dr. Solomon Ekundayo Speaks

28 күн бұрынNigeria is currently facing a food shortage crisis. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund, nearly 25 million Nigerians are at risk of facing hunger crisis if urgent action is not taken.
In a strategic move to enhance food security and agricultural productivity, the South West states are set to embark on a comprehensive plan involving massive land clearing and reinforcement of farm security measures.
Speaking on the issue of food crisis in the country, Solomon Ekundayo is wants the south west states to utilize its massive land for agricultural purposes like farming and ranching, to reverse the narrative.
According to him, if about 15% of the income of the six south west states go into Agriculture, this will boost food security.

Very negligible numbers of people are affected by insecurity in the southwest, the bulk of the noise is coming from some social mediaa and some few tvs who are fanning the bad news in order to discredit the Tinubu's govt.They are working for the opposition There are very few fulanis herders in the southwest. Our people are not willing to farm anymore and it will take genuine motivation especially by the local govts to change the situation. When those guys in the cities saw the people in the villages doing better than them, they will returned home. Many of them have abandoned their villages and sleeping in a very bad conditions in Lagos, Abuja, portharcourt, Ibadan etc.

What exactly are you talking about? A whole state farm settlement in Ekiti with over 3000 hectares of cleared land is currently abandoned by farmers and after some white man that wanted to farm on the land were kidnapped. Pls stop this propaganda of a thing. People of South West are gojng through a lot now.

The President should ban open grazing and settle the herders in a ranch or a specific area with food, water, health, and other amenities. I know numerous farmers that the Fulani herders chased from their farms and even killed some.

The jealousy and envy of crude oil discovered in eastern Nigeria which of course motivated the civil war against the eastern region. The majority of the Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani billions in Nigeria to are linked to oil well allocations from the military head of state from the two regions as well as their civilian counter part, therefore agriculture activities are being aboundoned.

Climate change is not our main issues right now. Besides, the whole of Africa only generates about 3% of co2. What we need to focus on is making electricity more available for businesses and people all over Nigeria. Making natural and organic food more available for people all over Nigeria, making sure we support our manufacturing sectors, and moving people away from foreign products.. towards Nigerian made products. We also need to regulate prices in a way that businesses can also make money. And various other things..
