RIP Jerry Stiller🙏🏽❤ me and my dad used to watch this show a lot. I was very young so I didn't understand it but i still laughed when my dad laughed, and as I grew older I rewatched and released how funny it really was.

I LOVE this song and omg, I love how it begins all lovey dovey and towards the end, it shows how Carrie is kinda annoyed at Doug at the ice cream place. It captures there relationship so well Carrie got mean and MEANER as the season progressed...lol an old married couple kinda thing

Flanderization, probably. As TV shows go on, especially comedy shows, there is a temptation to emphasize and exaggerate certain idiosyncrasies of a character's personality in order to exploit it for jokes or drama. So, you might start of with a character such as in Carrie's case who, yeah, is a foil to Doug and might get annoyed at his antics but still has other aspects of her character but by season 8 or 9 is literally just a nag at him the whole show. This is obviously a particular problem for sitcoms since the characters are meant to be somewhat satirical in the first place and aren't as three-dimensional as characters would be in more dramatic productions.

Man. This brings back so many memories. Watching this show every night, back in 2011, when my cousin, the girl I was dating, and I, all 3 lived at my crazy aunts, tiny 1 bedroom apartment. We all 3 had to sleep in the living room, her, and I on the floor, and my cousin on a twin size bed that my aunt kept in the living room. I'd put this show on every night, and we'd fall asleep to it. Doesn't sound very fun, but I'd go back to that time if I could. R.I.P Jerry Stiller.

back when i was a kiddo my mom used to watch this show a lot. i didn't understand what it was about. i mean i didn't watch it, i just glanced at the tv every now and again while playing with legos or smth and i was too young to understand shows like these anyway. but i always knew "there's this guy who's driving some kind of truck sometimes, there's his wife, and there's that older guy. and often some more friends of the truck guy". And the opening was basically burned into my head. I started actually watching it a while back and omg the nostalgia!!

My wife and I both loved this show as kids, and we just got done binging all 9 seasons of it together the other night. Watching the show now and having seen every episode, put a joyful smile on my face. Kevin James & Leah Remini had FANTASTIC CHEMISTRY together! And who could ever forget the legendary Jerry Stiller as Arthur Doug’s whacky father in-law. R.I.P. Jerry Stiller. ❤️

This really was one of the last great sitcoms. Holds up extremely well. It's one of those shows I turn on when I'm down and want to think about better times. Also that last scene is such a simple joke but it always gets a little giggle out of me.

I was sick with the flu for two weeks last month. Binge watched this on Lifetime. About a week in, I noticed they removed the Twin Towers from the intro. I could only see the bottom of them under the bridge for a second. Still so sad. But a great sitcom.
