I think the depth of the relationship between 12 and Clara pales all of the others. I think Twelve needed Clara more than the other Doctors needed their companions. Not for romantic love, but the love of two kindred souls who care for each other with a gut-wrenching depth of passion rarely seen.

River, Missy, Amy and all his other companions were amazing but Clara was different, she was truly a wonder and definitely one of the best things to ever happen to the doctor. She had an amazing send-off and I'm so glad they fit her in when the doctor was regenerating but it still hurts so much. Oh I love this... This love story I feel will be soooo underrated. Because in my eyes this isn't a romance. This is a story of 2 individuals who are so alike and respect each other so much that they would go through hell and back for one another. They didn't need sexual tension to show how much emotion they carried for one another just their actions... and their words.... I'm not sure we will ever see another like this. The line that hits me the most the entire series is at Clara's end. "Clara I'm no different than you, I'm just less breakable." Those words from the doctor sum up everything you need to know about how the doctor feels for Clara. She is his equal, a fellow timelord and he can't face the loss of her. That is why the next season he clings so hard to missy, because she is all that's left that comes close to being his equal.

I love this video. I know there's Rose and 10, Amy and 11, but to me this love feels the most raw, deep, non-superficial, powerful.. and the love will stay that way forever.

Broke my heart these two. On paper they're such an odd combo but I absolutely enjoyed story of 12 and Clara. It's a downright tragic that of the longtime who companions that died. Losing Amy and Rory made 11 retire for a bit but Clara, it made him break every rule he had. 4 and half billion torturous years living and dying on repeat just to have a chance to save someone already lost even to the point of being ready to wage war on his home planet where, even as a hero more renowned than Rasillon, he didn't care he made it back he just wanted his friend back.

I think this love story is the closest and the best in TV history.

Clara Oswald was one of the best companions, and the dynamic between Clara and 12 was brilliant and beautiful. I miss them loads.

Clara- "Die with whoever comes after me, do not leave me" The Doctor died with Bill, well pretty close with Bill anyway.

Doctor: "I had a Duty of Care! Clara Oswald, you will always look the same to me. When do I not see you? There was a crowd too? Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?" Clara: If you loved me in any way, you'll come back! I don't think I could ever forget you. People like us, they should say some things to one another, and I'm going to say them now. I love you!" How people still claim that theirs is not a love story is beyond me.

I'm pretty late when it comes to Dr. Who. I now started with the 10th season but in my mind I'm still with the Doctor and Clara. Nothing against Bill Potts but she is another type of companion. Nice but no Clara. Funny fact is when you see Peter and Jenna in interviews you still feel their connection like they were Clara and the Doctor.

This kind of depth is why I’ve been so disappointed in the series since Chris Chibnall took over. There’s no stakes, no loss, nothing that gets to the soul. In their attempt to make it more widely palatable, they neutered it of what made it beloved. Maybe RTD can reverse that.
