Oyster sauce is made from oysters, but you can get vegan/vegetarian ones made from mushrooms 😘

I have vegan oyster sauce and it is so so so good! Idk if it tastes the same since I’ve never had real oyster sauce but it is great

Exactly what I was wondering. I'm going to look for vegetarian oyster sauce

in my personal opinion, since gochujang is a paste, it might start sticking to the pan with the oil. you may have to mix a bit of water with the gochujang before adding it. gochugaru gives a a vibrant color to it. I've never used either of them, but i reply because of experience with similar texture/consistency foods.

@@nihalikaanand7049 You can fry gochujang and I do when I make my fried eggs. It doesn't stick if you have a spatula to move it around

I made it today and used gochujang. It didn’t stick to the pan at all. I don’t know how big of a difference it made since it was my first time making it

There is a vegetarian oyster sauce made of mushrooms. Some Asian stores have them in other places and not with the traditional oyster sauce. But they do have it.

Edit: my bad, I misread and misheard at the same time lol Dashi is (I believe) commonly made of dried kelp and dried bonito flakes (the store bought ones where I live are at least). Regardless if it’s bonito flakes or dried anchovy, it’s made from fish. Idk if it’s vegetarian, but there are vegetarian/vegan ways to make Dashi stock yourself. :)

yes, vegetarian means no fish or meat. what you mean is vegan, not vegetarian. people who are vegan don't use or consume any type of animal products such as eggs, dairy but also leather etc.

No vegetarian eats egg especially in india i’ve seen no one and those who don’t eat meat but consume egg called eggitarian here but yea vegetarian do consume cowmilk and other dairy products

Correct me if im wrong, but as far as i know, vegetarian can eat eggs and dairy. Different from vegan where they dont consume dairy and eggs.

yes actually! vegetarian vs vegan is veg eats dairy where as vegan doesn't but still this dish wouldn't be called either with the oyster sauce which contains oysters in it!
