I hope more people know how Joy's voice is really appreciated in Korea, and how Joy uses some traditional trot techniques in her singing. Joy's been praised as a vocalist both by music critics and the general public where she's called "Tone Fairy" and was voted by knetz as having the Top 3 best vocal color among female idols. Joy has two Daesang nominations as a soloist, became the first SM Female Artist to receive a Bonsang nomination without a solo debut, she has the record for the longest charting OST by a Female Idol on Melon's Daily 100 Chart, an OST with over 536 million digital points, and she made it to the next round of the King of Mask Singer on her first try. Joy also just made a successful solo debut and is still charting in the Top 20 of Billboard's K-Pop Hot 100 3 months later. The composer Hwang Hyun who is called "Korea's Beethoven" said that Joy has his favorite voice from idols. Yoo Heeyeol said he was impressed by Joy's voice and wanted her to release a solo album, and a respected singer like Shin Hyobum (who is known to dislike idols) said that Joy sounded so good singing live on Sketchbook that she thought it was a recording. Even a top music critic who was praising Red Velvet's vocal line specifically said that Joy has "a presence as a vocalist just as good" as Wendy and Seulgi. People should look at performances like the Dreams Come True special stage, or Hush, or Mr Mr, where Joy was given main vocal parts and was widely praised. I think Joy not only has a coveted vocal color but has a great ability to interpret and convey the meaning of any song, which is such an important aspect of being a vocalist.

Yeri is an underrated vocalist, she improved a lot over the years and even Wendy said it, she can reach high notes, low notes and although she is not the best she is very good but they do not appreciate her talent, I totally agree with this ranking, they finally appreciate yeri's voice

It's crazy to see how all of Red Velvet's vocal lines in the top 5 on the list. If you guys still underestimate about Joy's vocal abilities, you must remember that singing is not only based on vocal power.. but also with good technique. Yupp.. Joy doesn't have a strong vocal power. But her singing techniques are good. She can do falsetto, and head voice so easily which most vocalists who only rely on VOCAL POWER, can't do that.

Irene will be a beast if she had the control, her vocal texture is very unique especially low where her natural huskiness shows and can accent with fry dips, she's got the range from whistle to a few notes deeper than most female idols, and one of the most beautiful falsettos I've ever heard in kpop. Seulgi's control on the other hand is on another level, ya'll might be over looking it a bit, wait for her demonstrate more of her voice's power.

I’d put Seulgi #2, due to the fact that even tho she’s technically on par with Jihyo, she’s able to do more with her voice. She’s far more agile, and has the vocal stamina, and has more developed lower register. I’d also put Irene higher than Yeri on your list. If you’re a trained vocalist you’ll know that Irene has an incredible pitch control, like even acapella, she never misses and she even has connection through out her range.

**3RD GENERATION GIRL GROUPS (my opinion)** Wendy is undisputed #1. She hits all the categories of a good singer, technique, tone, adlibs and everything in between. There's nothing she lacks in. I'd switch Jihyo and Seulgi, I think Seulgi has better runs than Jihyo. Jihyo is definitely the best in Twice. Also, Joy, who is doing well digitally - was always the dark horse for me. Out of the separate OSTs/releases of 3rd gen gg, she surprised me - her vocal tone and emotion is so soloist worthy. Lastly, Rose. I wish YG would help her because she has the tone that I like most (comparable to Joy) but maybe even better, BUT she's so inconsistent in her live singing. Sometimes very good, sometimes very bad. YG needs to give her: technique lessons and solo songs because I really believe she deserves to be marketed better, she had (or has) the potential, and it's sad that it seems its going to waste.

Finally someone who puts Joy above Rosé. They’re both great and have unique voices, but Joy is way more consistent and doesn’t strain much. Red Velvet is a top tier vocal group, this just prove that SM really has THE VOCALS. And something I adore about RV is that they’re able to harmonize, all the members together. Harmonization is not easy and they have my respect for it.

Seulgi deserves a lot of props for stepping up during 2020 and having to sing Wendy’s parts in a lot of songs while she was recovery. But overall, it’s definitely obvious that Red Velvet was made with the intentions of being a vocal group. Even Irene is a good rapper despite her vocal abilities as a singer and Yeri just needs more practice! ❤️
