If Stephanie wrote books purely on the Cullen family backstories, she would make so much money. Imagine a book ab: Carlisle and his awful father, getting turned and fighting his self loathing, then overcoming it by changing his habits and creating a family. Alice as a kid growing up a psychic, getting excluded and called a witch by everyone in her community, getting thrown in a mental ward and turned by a vampire staff member then roaming to find Jasper and Carlisle. Rosalie being so sweet and perfect, only to get her heart broken and a full on book about her revenge and how she tracks them down, not to mention trying to be set up with Edward then finding her actual love bleeding to dead from a bear. Remember The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner? That was an AMAZING book and I really think Stephanie should consider this concept.

The reason Rosalie didn't adopt is more likely that human children bleed often, and we know how dangerous that is from the time Jasper tried to attack Bella over a paper cut. Not a lot makes sense in Smeyer's world-building, but this does follow the world's own logic beyond 'rules say so' :) Also not every woman who can't give birth wants to adopt as an alternative.

It wouldn't have really worked for Rosalie to adopt. The kid would be dragged into a world completely different, and a child deserves a human family. Plus they would probably have to change the kid, which the Volturi would be pissed about and Rosalie would feel eternally guilty about. It's a thought but it wouldn't work.
