Have you ever found a mismatch between the 3D model in your modeling software and the same 3D model imported into Twinmotion? In this short tutorial I'll give you the tips and tricks for optimizing your 3D model before importing it in Twinmotion.
Optimizing a 3D model before importing it into Twinmotion is crucial to ensure a smooth and high-quality experience in architectural visualization and design.
A well-optimized 3D model reduces the software workload, improving overall performance and enabling faster and more precise manipulation of elements.
It also reduces rendering and loading times, allowing users to focus more on design and communicating their work.
A well-optimized model can also enhance the visual quality of the final result, minimizing unwanted graphical artifacts such as aliasing and blurring.
Additionally, it helps ensure that the visualization is accurate and realistic, allowing architects, designers, and artists to convincingly present their projects to clients and stakeholders.

This is a good topic, 👍 I understand there is an issue with meshes as well. Not having the ceiling and wall as the same mesh? Also What are the benefits of using the datasmith vs native SketchUp file?

Always group single wall portions, so in Twinmotion you'll have more control with materials. Same thing with ceiling, always in a different group. I always suggest to export in Datasmit because it's the native Twinmotion/Unreal Engine format so you're not asking your 3D file to be converted. Datasmit is also way more lighter than a 3D file. Lastly, with Datasmit the materials will be applied more easily to surfaces without future issues for updates. Thank you for the comment, I'll create a dedicated video for this argument!

Thank you very much for your video, I think it is the only one I found that explains several problems I have. In my particular case, when using Datasmith, some materials look opaque despite applying "2 sides" and it seems that they are the groups that were made in Sketchup, the only solution is to ungroup and group again so that it can be corrected. On the other hand, I have suffered the situation of applying all the materials to the project and when I reconnected TM with skechup all the materials were reset and I had to reapply them one by one. I understand that this is due, as you explain, to the fact that I have modified the 3D on a surface that shares the material with another? Is that why? Thank you

Thank you for the comment, I really appreciate when someone asks for help. Anyway, the first problem is a known issue, it should be fixed soon. It should happen only with components and not groups, but maybe I'm wrong. For the second one, I really suggest to mantain always all the files in the same path and always modify the 3D for everything. If after 3D update your Twinmotion project turns white means that the connection has been lost for some reason, maybe the assets folder has been deleted. But here in the comment is very hard to find a solution. I assure you that if you follow the steps i explained in the video you'll never have materials problems again. Anyway stay tuned because the "white material problems" video will be ready soon 👀

hi how are you ? very good tips, I have a question, you know that the direct link from SketchUp to TM sometimes the objects come with a black material that does not allow materials to be applied and the way to solve it is by exploding and regrouping, but there are complex 3D objects that last too much exploding and regrouping. I wanted to know if there is a more optimal solution to improve the workflow. Thank you

Hi, thank you for the comment, anyway it is a known issue, it will be soon fixed. At the moment the only thing I suggest is to explode/regroup all the black surfaces and then upload again the datasmit in twinmotion. It should happen only with components, not groups
