The first "correction" does not hold up imho. There are many photos and lots of footage of the Head hunters of Borneo who throughout history would take the heads of their defeated enemies and "shrink" them usually by means of boiling and using hot stones. They did this as they believed the spirits would return after death and speak against them or tell neighboring tribes who had committed the atrocities. While the shrunken heads on that paste table did not have their eyes and mouths sewn up they do bear a striking similarity to those found in Borneo. Those photographed and in museums never had war paint on which debunks the first counter claim. A few years ago i saw a documentary about someone of jewish descent who had found what he thought was the "human skin" lampshade. The documentary centered around him trying to evidence and verify this claim. He picked this lampshade up at a garage sale in the US and promptly took it to Europe to substantiate this claim , however while there he was informed that although it dated from the ww2 period and was custom made it was not human but in fact goat skin. This documentary also showed two shrunken heads ( as a mock up of the original ) but this time with eyes and mouth sewn up as practiced by the Borneo tribesmen. For what reason this was shown i cannot ascertain but can only guess that it's artistic license on behalf on the narrator. What happened to the original i do not know as i haven't researched that far. The Allies were starving the axis which included all the people in the camps. It was not the Germans deliberately trying to make the camps poorly run. The Poles and Jews and other eastern europeans had bad hygiene which is why disease spead because they were so backwards, and they were uneducated and didn't understand the modern facilities the germans had like de-lousing facilities, showers, x-ray machines in hospitals. A friend of mine said a guy in one of his college classes broke down in tears because he was of German descent. Like get a hold of yourself man! My dad was born in Berlin in 1928, German dad and Polish mom. Both originally from Posen. This of course brought a lot of tragedy just from that angle. His parents where Center Party which was it's own train wreck but I don't think they were really political, they just moved to Berlin for work. My dad grew up in HY and was in one of anti-aircraft "High Schools" from 1943-1945, and then got thrown into the Battle of Berlin at 17 the same month his dad died in the German Army in a bombing raid. I grew up in California but we did live in West Berlin for a year and travelled through East Germany and Poland where you could say I learned a lot about the world. My dad did not claim to have any kind of inside knowledge on these events other than what he personally experienced. With regards to one Jewish family that lived down the street, they where gone sometime in the 30s and they had just heard that they had moved. They may have actually just moved but who knows. My dad got very depressed around the topic of WW2 and I did get the feeling that he guffawed at somethings and thought maybe they were exaggerated. Imagine trying to express anything to anybody in the SF Bay Area though...where accusations of "being a Nazi" were already being flung everywhere decades ago. Now consider the scale of lies and propaganda just over the last few years with real time communications. I take this into consideration for the narrative constructed in the immediate aftermath of WW2 by the victors. Even my American grandfather just wrote for the "Stars and Stripes" after he got drafted in WW2 living in Manhattan.

I've been to Germany a couple dozen times and made good friends. I worked as a guest tattooist and they came to visit and stay with me many times. I watched a lot of first hand videos which were copied from VHS tapes back in the day. Try to find the one from the barber who worked in a camp in Germany and what he claimed why the Germans shaved off the hair 30 minutes before their supposed hmicides. He had a barber shop in Tel Aviv after the war and he cuts hair while the interview was conducted (probably late 70's to mid 80's). His reasoning and arguments and what he supposedly witnessed technically speaking is pretty wild and he never even once is able to look straight into the camera while he is 're-collecting' his memories. Anyway, I am sure you could find a copy of that interview if you use my cues in the search!

At the start of the current conflict in Israel/Palestine all I had was the memory of the ever shrinking size of the map of Palestine from highschool. I decided to do some background research about the conflict to get an understanding. It's been eye opening on so many levels to say the least. Father Mawdsley's books have been a part of that, a great help in providing a theological framework. What I thought I understood about history has been tremendously challenged since October 2023. Also my suspicions that things are never completely one sided have been confirmed. Some Germans abandoning their Christian faith is part cause, true, but the abuse that all Germans suffered before, after, and during the conflict is never spoken about and make it all more understandable.
