Next level of this is to do like DougDoug - whenever chat writes a message containing a drum command like "hi hat" or "cymbal roll", a program will automatically play that sound effect.

The fact that Jerod carried out these different commands that fast and that intuitively was genuinely frickin awesome! Having that immediate idea and sense to put it to action shows that experience and talent! Not everyone can pose for the fans or call mom that well on the fly!

I'd love to get my hands on a MIDI recording of one of these streams. It'd be fun to try and reconstruct the stream in MIDI form. Aside from the speech part... MIDI isn't great at that. But alert sounds and the songs themselves? Totally doable.

Like I'm sure you could actually set up something to parse chat commands and turn them into midi commands for the kit, so you wouldn't have to read it but they could actually do it.
