She seems lovely, but I fully understand what she is saying about weirdos thinking she is more accessible because of her torettes. This wasn't made any better by the C4 show 'The Undateables' which included people who had tourettes unable to find love. Really sad, but she has hit the nail on the head with those comments!

this!! I get similar messages from creeps because I'm autistic and chronically ill. Despite the lack of social skills, I can tell when they see me as broken/easier to manipulate...there's just a bad vibe. I remember watching The Undateables as a teen, seeing other autistic people on there, and realising for the first time that the world saw me as unlovable. It wasn't fun. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the show was exploitative! It felt patronising, too.

We were talking at work when Wordfeud was popular and I realised every female colleague who was playing had been sexually harassed on the chat while playing with strangers. That blew my mind and finally got me to realize how pervasive this problem is. I really admire Anita for sharing this kind of thing in the way she does it. As a guy I do try really hard to confront guys when I see them doing inappropriate shit, but most of the times they do it when nobody sees - except the person they are doing it to - and people who behave that way won't be my friend for long so that also affects how often I encounter it.
@bananabrain2996
@bananabrain2996 2 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the acknowledgement of the scale of the problem! Most guys ik are either wilfully ignorant about these kinds of issues or in denial, either way they tell me it's no way near that common. Honestly just understanding that and being there for victims makes a huge difference. The first (and only) time a guy told me he would help me report a man at work who was SAing me at work, completely changed my mindset. I went from feeling completely miserable about the fact no one would help to not really feeling that bad about it at all because there was someone who was willing to help, the issue was a lot less depressing and easier to get over. And someone who didn't want anything in return, wasn't trying to be saviour for favours or affection. So even just telling a woman you believe her, it's not her fault and you take it seriously could have a massive positive impact on her mental health

@@jonasfermefors I really wish that was true but it's actually not the case! If that was true the problem wouldn't be so wide spread in professional settings, e.g education, police, doctors. It's very much interwoven into society and the whole "it's just a few bad apples" or "it's a loud minority" idea is just thought up by well intentioned men like you who can't comprehend the reality of the situation because it's so far removed from what you experience and how you act. 9/10 guys have acted aggressively to me when I've rejected them, most of my friends have had the same experience. @@bananabrain2996 I go by stats in Sweden when I say this. We used to have a much worse problem. But I still don't want to minimize it because even here most men have at some point in their life done something they feel is over the line. I do think that (here at least) the vast majority of the really bad actions are done by a minority. The YouToo-movement made it clear that almost all women have had some bad experiences (and very many have had horrible experiences). Whether they have been done by a minority is in many ways irrelevant because we have 50% of the population that continually feels abused and that cannot be a basis for a good society. I don't want to minimize it. I want to get men onboard in working for change.

I would tend to disagree with the example of "what were you wearing" I think today it's pretty obvious that most people see through that as the person asking being an absolute sociopath but I get what she's saying with the rest of it, though I don't see all of it as being necessarily Blaming women, I think in many cases the "aren't you encouraging that behavior" as genuine concern while not really understanding it the way she explained it which I actually found to be brilliantly eloquent. If nothing is going to work (because all people are different and one solution won't fix the problem amongst all of them) why not handle it in the way that best makes you feel at peace with it (for want of a better term) Another thing I also think, that I don't wanna say I disagree with but think has more possibilities is allot of the reasoning behind the creep frequency, from the psychological aspect at least. I'm sure allot of it comes down to the weird savior complex or the "we're both broken" thing as well. But, I think Anita seems quite humble, not only is that a characteristic desirable to allot of men (especially in allot of young men that have not found much recent success in dating) but, Anita, from the few videos I've seen from my recent exposure (get your mind out of the gutter) to her is that she does honestly and truly seem like a very sweet and kind person which is something that these types of people likely don't get especially so with some of the twitch (or even OF) streamers who hypersexualize themselves and make themselves out to be these insurmountably unattainable sex symbols. The kinds of insecure and lonely people might have gotten on a large scale already felt rejected possibly even instantly and see her as somebody who won't make them feel rejected because she generally appears to be a very nice person. None of this is to say that it's okay of course, but it's definitely not as black and white as they all have "Tickaphelia". On the topic of fetishizing the immutable though, I think it's an interesting conversation to have about obviously treating somebody's disability or immutable characteristic as some sort of well fetish, I guess a kind of amusement for the service of ones sexual desires is rightly pretty gross. Like "Race Play" for example to me, it seems like it's making a personal spectacle of somebody's race and turning it into something that only serves their pleasure...that to me is pretty weird (but two consenting adults, as long as there's no gaslighting or any evil mental trickery like that I suppose). but, truly loving that person and you just happen to find black men or women stunningly attractive I can see as perfectly fine and normal. Would it be wrong then if somebody truly had a deep love for somebody with Tourette's and just happened to find some of their ticks kind of endearing or even attractive. I can tell, again by a limited exposure, that Anita's fan base seems to enjoy her ticks and find them funny even though they're laughing with her and probably appreciate her near unshakably positive attitude towards them more important. I suppose fixating on something as niche as tourette's is a little weird but I'm actually kind of at odds with the fact that I'm not typically one to kink shame (obviously again where all parties are consenting) whereas I also don't think it's right to fetishize something like tourette's or a person's race or dwarfism or anything that people have struggled with that they can't change about themselves. It's interesting, and I think we should at least talk about it and figure out where the moral grounds are. Because, like I said there's obviously a socially accepted immorality to kink shaming (again to be very clear When consent is given by all, Please kink shame anybody who's turned on by sending unsolicited dong, boob or bush pics to unsuspecting people that didn't consent) but there's also a much more obvious immorality given to fetishization.

@@Dazumu Oh I'd never wanna go to America anyway, but it's disappointing that people actually do have that mindset, I'm glad I've never seen it myself but the fact it does actually happen is so sad :/

I was sending messages to a streamer who I could see myself being friends with (difficult) She wasn't answering so I started trolling her too seriously. She added me on Steam (Okay!) Persistence? Shit came up and I couldn't make good on the opportunity for a few weeks. Unfriended (not blocked) me. I had arguments and a more annoying reaction than before blocked from her. Am I a bad person, a nice guy or passiveness was my defining trait before sheer annoyance. Anyway she liked and replied to a message I sent on a Twitter post of hers. First 'contact' in 6 months. Nothing more yet. I'll settle to be on good terms. Don't be idiots guys. It takes too much out of you.

I hate the incel version of friendzone. No woman is ever under any obligation to give you anything, much less her body. The firendzone is just a description of what happens when the normal human reflex of putting things in boxes is applied to relationships. Humans naturally think conceptually. We learn very young to associate things, and once we learn language we learn the words connected to those concepts. Ex. A flat surface with 4 thin sticks supporting it off the ground is a table. Once your brain has labelled someone as a friend, that's what they are. You won't see them as potential sexual partners, romantic partners or threats, they are your friend. Being friendzoned is the same thing as people refusing to believe their friend is a criminal or a piece of shit and defending them regardless of proofs. People do not fit in boxes. People are much too complex to be reduced to just one aspect.
