Well, it's a matter of moderation - I admit I've sometimes made a special effort to see an unusual bird, if it's not too far from where I live. But I think these obsessed people are missing out on the fun of just watching birds, any birds...

I believe you do a excellent job Lee, you demonstrate the highest level of enthusiasm towards all aspects of bird welfare. Your character is irrelevant what’s important your heart is fixed in the birding world.

I detest 'twitchers' racing around carelessly and with a selfish tick list that drives their childish dreams of one upmanship . .pathetic boys stuff . . I'm a birder I guess . .I like to visit a nice calm undisturbed place or reserve and sit quietly and see what turns up, not racing around trying to outdo each other . .I was one of the very few that spotted and watched a Bee Eater at Dungeness a few years ago . . was a tricky debate to decide to let others know . .and especially this shower of vandals above . .

Chris Ellis you saved me writing all that out. When a bird turns up that’s unusual it’s good to see, like a pied billed grebe that was at Leighton Moss a few years ago. LM is my "home" site, and I had no idea the bird was there until I arrived. There no chance of me running to the other side of the country to see something destroying the hedgerows that are important to our indigenous wildlife. A bunch of childish morons and Lee Evens is a legend in his own mind.

Question - What's the difference between Garry Bagnell twitching a House Crow and a 1970's Space Hopper? Answer - One is an annoying, spherical, orange thing, full of air with a funny face..... the other is a Space Hopper!

He has his fair share of Hater’s. In the field of Ornithology he’s very knowledgeable. I met him on the off chance out birding one morning, spent 6 hours with him excellent knowledge. Met him on a few other occasions out birding he’s not a bad fella.
