Great job. I always use the batteries from the grocery shops and do some C grade soldering to the old wires and connector. One Dell laptop shorted the battery and shut down the BIOS recently because I was cheap on the electric tape. Both the OS and display flickered madly by the missing features, but I didn't break anything and learned to pack the battery well in with tape.

I have one as well, same issue! Thing still works like a tank. Has dents all over it, battery exploded a long time ago. But still runs off DC power
