Two Beautiful Journals YOU Can Make!
Today I will show you how to make a beautiful leather bound journal and cardboard bound notebook easily using the Pro Hole Punch from our sponsor Skilled Crafter: fbit.co/sK4
I will be giving 3 of these Skilled Crafter Pro Hole Punches away on my blog! Click here to enter! Enter by 10/23/15 thefrugalcraft...
I am using recycled leather from a jacket that was going to be thrown away but you can use new material if you prefer. Vinyl would also be a good choice.
Supplies:
Heavy Duty Hole Punch: amzn.to/3Tk0ljx
Leather or Vinyl
Felt
paper
Glue (I used Beacon 3-in-1)
Corner Rounder (optional)
paper trimmer or scissors
Rotary cutter and quit square (or scissors and something square to trace) amzn.to/46SzE8C
Heavy book
Binder clips
Watch the video to see the instructions for making these beautiful handmade journals then try making one for yourself! I'd love to see what you create!

Great projects. My dad and grandpa both had very old leather tools like that for belts and saddlery, but I never thought of using one for paper. That's an awesome idea. I thought I'd offer a little rotary cutter sharpening idea. I was making a quilt and found a little burr on my blade so I ran it alternately through folded over aluminum foil and automotive fine grit sand paper. I think it was 1000 or 1200 grit wet/dry sandpaper. It worked like a charm after that.

My son is a professional singer/songwriter/musician/performer (Porter M Lori on Facebook). I'd just about decided to do a journal for him, for his songwriting, but hadn't decided on the cover. I have an old brown suede jacket that is too big for me and has a tear on the pocket. IF I WIN this pro puncher, I will definitely make the journal for my son's Christmas present, using the old brown suede!

Also to try making earrings and being able to punch holes. Endless possibilities. Thanks for showing us all about this tool!

" hers where it gets interesting" you say after wrapping the satin cord three times " snug" you tie the two loose cord ends together into a knot ? before feeding through the hole , you edit that part out so I could not see what kind of knot was it under over the step? Do I tie it tight ?

I love this journal! It turned out really nice and I love the fact that it is reusable. How does this punch compare to the Cropadile? Do you know? And also, can I get your email address again for the red scarf? My iPad got smashed to smithereens and it is no longer working which is where I had your email address saved. So if I could get that again, that would be fabulous. Thanks Lindsay!
@thefrugalcrafter
@thefrugalcrafter 8 жыл бұрын
+Beau DeLeon It is different, Cropadial does 2 sizes, skilled crafter does 6. Cropadial is better for metal but for other materails Skilled crafter leaves a cleaner edge. Both are good tools, just depends if you want to ouch metal or how many sizes of holes you want. You can do this tutorial with the cropadial though:)
