I was surprised when it chose to stay by you instead of following it's mom. I'd be hugging that little foal. It's so cute!

Two things are just so beautiful. The mutual trust and respect between horse and dog and then that the foal is very focussed on you has to mean that you're an absolutely wonderful person in caring for them.

That's so sweet the way Abel kept going to you. You obviously have bonded with him. I love babies! I raised a few myself . I kept the first one. His name is Ben and he is now 21 years old.

The interaction between the mare and dogs is interesting. I had a mare that would send the dogs flying if they even looked sidewise at her foals.

My dogs wouldn't dare to go near some of my mares with new born foals but it tends to be the first time mum's. The experienced broodmares are less concerned by the presence of our dogs. That said, the mares all react very differently to dogs who are unknown to them. I don't allow strange dogs into fields with my mares and foals.

Normal process since a new born horse is usually took care of by the human in the stables. This process breaks the bond to show who the mother actually is. Typically the baby will go to the human what depends is how long it takes, here it only took a few seconds.
