Is your 20 m/s (of 1500kg truck) not suppose to be negative since it is acting downwards in the Cartesian plane?

These type of maths can be solved in 2 ways. The thing u r mentioning is used when we solve the math using i^ and j^ (in vector form ) . But other than that if we solve this using all the components in x-axis & y-axis particularly we don't need to consider (+)ve & (-)ve of Cartesian method
