Will the feathers ever grow back?

@@JerryHatrickShorts It could be possible for the first bird, Chicken, to regrow them since they've already reduced the stressful situation she was in, so she might stop plucking if she hasn't stopped already. There are also little suits to help prevent them from plucking, but even with everything done correctly it's difficult to know whether they'll grow back or not, the molting cycle for parrots can be a few times a year for smaller ones but as they get bigger, they are usually less frequent like macaws and African greys can take a year or two to start molting. Keep in mind that molting is the process of losing old feathers to grow in new ones in the same follicles, and plucking disrupts that cycle. Another thing is that regular molting is influenced by sunlight or getting UVA/UVB, but without feathers to protect Chicken's skin from damage, it just might not be possible without making her feel very uncomfortable. Then there's muscle atrophy... The second bird, Misty, has a skin condition that makes birds lose their feathers so she's going to be running around naked permanently. While we're very empathetic of what seems like a dire situation, parrots are extremely social intelligent animals. While their featherless life may not be the most ideal for them, when they're loved, cared for and given lots of attention they can still live happily and adapt to their situations knowing that they're still a part of the flock. Both of these birds seem to be thriving with their new families, you can tell they're loved very much and love their families just as much in return.

I love the Little Prince and all its infinite wisdom of the heart. I was given a Fischer love bird who was naked. The VET put her on Prozac and her plumage came in nicely, but I know what psychotropic drugs do to people and I did not want my sweetheart to end up in a worse way. I told the VET that I would love her till the day she died and it did not matter what she looked like. Eventually her plumage consisted of sparse feathers. But I had her for 13 wonderful and fun years. I will never forget the day she died; My heart broke. But I knew I had given her a good life. She had a life worth living, and she gave me joy beyond words. Other people looked her and laughed, she did look sort of funny I admit. "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly."

They need a lot of care & are messy. One of my friends takes rescued birds. Plus, they're expensive, so I think some ppl don't want to let go of their investment & will then just stick them in a cage somewhere. It's terrible. 💔💔

Birds in general need a social environment, parrots are some of the most social and intelligent of birds so saying they need a lot of attention almost feels like an understatement. They want to be socializing from sunrise to sun dawn, especially if they end up bonding with another. Parrots require a higher level of care than other animals and it just seems like many don't really do the research before deciding to get one, or they don't realize how easily they can be stressed out. They also live much longer than other pets and can be a lifelong commitment, which seems some aren't willing to partake in because of the amount of time needed to care for them.

Unfortunately the second bird, Misty, lost her feathers from a disease that affects parrots, called Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD) which means her feathers won't ever grow back. She will also potentially have a shorter lifespan. However, she can still lead a happy life for as long as she has.
