We met up with Tintop Tales (details below) who found their van years before they could call it their own. They went for a rustic vibe in their wonderful T4 tintop, and have transformed it into a cosy getaway van.

I'm sooo very impressed with this van! They did a beautiful job with their build! I would never have the patients to do such intricate work, however, I definitely respect these two ladies for making it happen! I'm very envious!!!

So true, a self built is amazing. That is the only way you can adjust everything how you like and need it. This is very important, if you only have little space. And - you have something you can really be proud of! Thanks for mentioning this. We love the van and the video.

Imho it was just the right balance of useful if basic information plus 1st hand experience. I really appreciate the mention of importance if not being scared if a diy novice, of building skills and confidence by learning from scratch as you go. These are vital yet overlooked elements of self build for anyone considering a self build, especially a diy novice. I also love the hax you mentioned eg the idea of buying and cutting down flat pack but zizzing it up with adding quality materials eg wooden worktops. And finally but not least l found the humour and warmth of your personalities made the film addictive watching. Good luck in your travel. Xx

Wood is probably lighter than MDF, certainly for the same strength. Looks much nicer too, good job!

Nicely done. I gutted then rebuilt my T4 using second hand bedside cupboards and drawers. It's amazing how much you can fit into a relatively small van. (mine is a swb)

If you want to eat porridge in the morning "cook" it overnight in a wide necked vacuum flask wrapped in reflectix and a towel. Keep it near your bed with a spoon so you can have breakfast in the morning without getting out of bed. Quality flasks will keep it hotter.

+ T4 Tips & Guides: BS, nothing is better than Ford Transit Mk1. Got a Sierra 3l V6 engine in, automatic, racing tyres, drives like a dream and is more roomy inside as well. And it was sooooo cheap because of its old age. But still a strong fighter with that new engine. Perfect camper van!

Suggestions: - If it is about the van, show more of the van - slow-mo is cool when used on little, not so cool when used excessively.

I know I should be commenting on the van, but the flame on the hob looks a bit yellow to me. Is it always like that? It should be mostly blue. Also, have you/they got a CO alarm?

Mike Shipp it was a mega windy day which was blowing the flame around, so that's probably the cause. We're sure they have a CO2 alarm too 👍

so you've mentioned being robbed twice? Then you've been lucky to not have been in the van when they broke in. Do you have any further security if someone tries to get into the van? I've heard of gas attacks, people try to numb you with that and robb you out after that. Thats one thing that kind of keeps me from wild camping in a van... which is sad. Do you have any tipps for self defense? Maybe you could even do a video to that :) Greetings from Germany
