Been bowling for 6 months and have had so much trouble fixing my errors. Partly because I didn't know what my errors were. But Your video on finger placement and shoulder turn completely fixed my game. Thank you so much.

This whole series is amazing. I've been looking into getting into two handed bowling after bowling one handed my whole life and experiencing finger and thumb injuries due to activities outside of bowling. The hand positioning of cradling the ball as well as the shoulder rotation was like a light bulb going off in my head and really made me understand how two handed bowling works. I always tried to put my stabilizing hand on the ball as opposed to nearly locking the fingers together and experienced the dropping/broken wrist aspect that I also struggled with one handed. You're an excellent teacher!

Hey buddy, just a heads up which I think might help. I personaly don't recommend doing those "warm up swings" before the 1 step drill as you were doing them. Your shoulders seemed to pull too much above the head and that might cause an injury, especially for beginners. Keep up the research though, good work.

I like your analysis of the bent arm swing and straight arm swing. Some bowlers insist on straightened arm swing but it does not fit other physiques. I am 5 feet 64 height and tried to straighten the arm swing on the down swing then drop the ball most of the time. It does not fit my physique indeed. On the backswing, I usually think of not raising the ball but let it swing up naturally and use footwork to pump kinetic energy to it. I also tried raising the ball on the back swing, but it often ruins my downswing and flat spot. So I prefer not to raise the ball intentionally.

How does one determine what style of bowler they are? I’m 5 foot 10 and when looking at a side video of myself, my elbow bends, but the ball stops at my hip and my arms never completely straighten on the down swing. I feel like I’m robbing myself of a lot of power. My game is also absent of the hop step so I just try to rely on a decent tempo to generate ball speed. Any insight from anyone is certainly appreciated.

Without seeing a video first, I would say your timing is a bit late. If you really want to get to the bottom of it, you can book a lesson on Facebook by direct message: facebook.com/groups/516394209892799/?ref=share I will be working on a timing video here within the next few weeks. Came across your videos and you explain things better than most I’ve seen. I have struggled with accuracy and consistency as a two hander. Had some wrist and elbow problems and that’s why I switched. These videos finally gave me basic breakdown of what the swing should look like. Wondering if you use grips and how far in your fingers go in the ball. I have tried grips and no grips but never quite sure how far in the ball my fingers should get. I guess this is different for each person but wondering your approach here. Great job in these videos. Gave me a lot To hopefully improve consistency
@BigSkyBowler
@BigSkyBowler 2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad I could help! For the grips, yes I use grips but I use the oval side of the grips and I put my fingers in as far as between first and second knuckle. It's called a semi-fingertip grip and I get much better feel this way. If I go just to first let knuckle I feel like I don't have a good grip on the ball. Everyone is different and it takes some expirementing to really know what's right for you as a bowler. Many two handers either use semi-fingertip or even full fingertip. Keep in mind, your fingers take longer to exit the ball with this style of grip so you will lose a bit of rev rate. Thanks for watching!

I recently switched to a straight arm swing and I generate way more ball speed but I realize now that it's because of a developed bad habit in my bent arm swing. I do however prefer, so far, the straight arm swing.

Hey! Really cool content here! I just started bowling 2 handed, and I was wondering how you're able to cup your wrist so well during the back swing? Thank you.
@BigSkyBowler
@BigSkyBowler 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you and thank you for watching! Keeping my ball side hand cupped comes directly from the positioning of my non ball side hand. You can get a full explanation in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p9CJhchj1KiwY2w.html

Question for anyone willing to answer. Just got into the sport a month ago and wondering if the higher I bring the ball before my first push step, will that produce more potential energy? Secondly, if that is true, can you use that to adjust your shot depending on what you need? For example, low and slow for a nice reactive backend or bring it high and let it fly for a more straight shot. My thinking is that it’s like a pendulum, the higher the starting point the faster it will be coming back. TL;DR: Longwinded way of asking if this works like a pendulum. I’m a two hander, no thumb, 16 LB Storm Proton Physix and a 16 LB Hammer Black Widow.
@BigSkyBowler
@BigSkyBowler 8 ай бұрын
Adjusting your ball speed is very important to becoming a better bowler because not all situations call for the same speed. As a two hander, adjusting the balls placement in your setup does not actually make a huge difference on the speed of the shot. This is because two handers use less pendulum in their swing than one handed bowlers. Instead, think about your feet. Slow start and fast finish = faster speed. Slow start and slow finish = slow speed.

Great content! I'm very interested in participating in a "tournament" but would like a schedule of a "practice format" (games, time per week) that I could follow to get in good enough physical shape to not embarrass myself completely! Lol I'm about a 210 average two handed league bowler with plenty of time and resources to dedicate to this endeavor Also, do you offer any on-line "one on one" coaching? Thank you!

Hello and welcome to the channel! Thank you for the compliments! Yes I do offer virtual and in person lessons if you live in my area. You can reach out to me on Facebook for more information: facebook.com/JeremiahRooneyBowling As far as tournaments and practicing for them, it's a good idea to get as much practice on sport conditions as possible to prepare to compete on tougher conditions. As far as being in good physical condition, I would recommend practicing long formats as most tournaments would have a qualifying block at least 6 games long.

Wow. Cool video. Great info. I’m a natural one-handed bowler but sometimes my wrist hurts if I have to bowl more games and wearing a brace is uncomfortable. Using 2 hands takes the pressure off my wrist. Still learning this but it’s fun. Lots of power, for sure, but so hard to control and be accurate. I’ll keep practicing.

What is your opinion about sliding with your front foot as opposed to planting it? I noticed in your one step drill you plant it. I've seen two handers do it both ways. What are the pros and cons to each way?
@BigSkyBowler
@BigSkyBowler Жыл бұрын
I've got a video out talking about planting vs sliding. Both apply in certain scenarios however I believe it's always best to slide if you can to conserve your knee.

Thank you for these videos. I’ve been a one hand no thumb bowler for ten years now. I have a 200 average but I find that my middle finger hurts like a son of gun if I bowl more than 6 games a week. Will switching to two handed bowling alleviate this problem? I’m probably going to switch to two handed because I feel like my game has plateaued as well.
@BigSkyBowler
@BigSkyBowler Жыл бұрын
You're welcome and welcome to the channel. I would honestly recommend having your pitches checked in your finger holes first to ensure proper fit before making any major changes to your entire game. Going two-handed MAY alleviate some pain in your middle finger but it's not a guarantee and the two styles are different enough that your average would likely suffer a bit before it starts getting better. No-thumb and two-handers have more lift on their middle fingers and if your pitches are not properly done it can cause a ton of pain. Your middle finger should pitch forward (towards the center of the ball) as well as pitching slightly left. Your ring finger should pitch reverse (away from the center of the ball) as well as pitching slightly right.
