You want to connect two LEDs to your microcontroller but you have only one GPIO-pin left? In this video I present an alternative solution to the one presented by Ralph Bacon in his recent video • #241 Yikes! Only ONE G...

For some sort of reason I expected 1-Wire protocol driven switch. Voltage follower is a pretty clever idea!

Nicely done! It's certainly an alternative to my solution. I will store this in a filing cabinet in my brain for some time in the future. If it ever comes up in a future video of mine I'll pretend it was all my idea, obviously 🤣 I would have to test your assertion that blue LEDs would light up with just 2.5v but even if they did not it's not a huge loss as I hate those overbright blue LEDs that seem to pop-up everywhere now. Until the next video! 👍🏻

Thank you Ralph. Feel free to take it and run with it... it's not my invention either!

Very nice to see you building on Ralph's ideas. I do like the idea of using the op-amp, since they are cheap and almost any will do. In addition, the current through the voltage divider will be very low (about 0.125 mA)

you could reduce the current through the divider even more by using higher-valued resistors, it would still work well with >100 kΩ. On the other hand power consumption for the whole system is not an issue if you are at the same time running two dozen LEDs.
