This looks like a really great product. I'm interested in it more as a way of using the DynIRs with my pedalboard, but I'm sure that I'd mess around with the other stuff too. One thing that I'd be interested in seeing is how the noise gate works if you turn the threshold up a bit. It's looks like while you were using it you had it turned all the way down. Maybe it's possible to turn it up a bit and get rid of the sound while still having it sound good. I don't have a ton of experience with noise gates, but I would think that for a high gain sound you might want it turned up a smidge.

Seriously considering this for home practice. What would be a good way speaker wise, not considering headphones? Would my active monitors and external interface be good enough or should I consider something else like frfr?

The most notable thing here is that ALL the presets you showcased sounded excellent. This is in stark contrast with most multi-effectors that tend to have the first preset you hear sound over the top and essentially unusable.

I just bought a Torpedo Opus and will see if it will work well with a Kingsley Juggler preamp as a mini kit for a quiet recording clean tones and light overdrives. They will be plugged right into the Apollo Twin => Logic. I'll also run my tube amps through it and use the built-in IR's (I'll record it simultaneously: AMP+ Opus/Amp + real speaker+SM57/AKGC414). I wish they had shown that in the episode because that's what I mainly concerned about. Actually, I don't intend to use presets at all but only simulations of power amplifiers and IR's. I'm hoping that my amps + IRs will perform better than the OX speaker/microphone simulations I've been using for several years, which have always sounded worse than a quietly twisted amp with a regular SM57. Now I have a Fryette PS-2a and it is a really good device as an attenuator. The sound of the amps is natural and you can turn it down smoothly. However, I live in a block of flats and while I can record beautiful clean guitar sounds here, for heavier sounds I need good speaker simulations. I'll be back in a week after testing so maybe I'll comment.

Would love to see the preamps worked into their desktop plugin offerings. Wall of Sound has some GREAT tones but it's always a bit of a pain getting a separate preamp loaded up to feed it.

Gojira has been using Two Notes for live cab sims for a while and they are one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. I think Two Notes is a French company as well so no wonder they use them. I could be wrong!

Well, you realize, they likely use Revv amps, they have the Torpedo Cab Sim out? I don’t understand why every amp doesn’t have a basic cab sim, for the direct out. The Egnater Rebel 30 has one from 2010, that sounds better than playing through any modeler and cab sim pedal, whether Line6, Fractal, Quad, UAFX, and Two Notes stuff as well. This looks great, because it’s $300, with more features than anyone else of Two Notes quality, with any product like this. *The reason the cab sim out sounds so good, is because it’s using the preamp and power amp from the tube amp, run into it. It’s the only amp, other than the Revv ones, and a couple others, that have the same type of setup, that doesn’t really change my tone, and gets all the headroom of the amp.

I read somewhere that they mix the torpedo live cab with a real ISO cab. I believe it’s called box of doom. To their in ear monitors they send the Torpedo Brownyback IR. I could be wrong.

Thanks for getting in touch - We wanted to keep OPUS as compact as possible and if we were to add foot-switches, we would have needed a lot of them! Instead we added full MIDI integration so you can create your own custom setup for the comprehensive OPUS architecture!

Hey, guys, I just noticed something that at 13:24, you may not have seen yet: While you've been talking about the amount of noise you're hearing, I've been looking for possible causes, and I noticed that the enhancer is on. Many enhancers work by mixing a small amount of noise into the guitar signal, thereby giving that signal a small goose in the upper mids and highs. I have noted that the enhancement is NOT dynamic; it doesn't react to playing at all. If I were editing that patch, I would start by flipping that one switch from "guitar" to "bass." If that's not enough, pull back on the "body" control. Failing all else, turn the enhancer OFF. I mean, that's what I'D do.

bought the opus two days ago And I put it through the ringer Hooked it up to my pedal board In front of,in the middle and at the end of the chain It blows me away how good this pedal is So many possibilities As stand alone ,as an eq before middle and end of your chain No mater where put it it doesn’t disappoint At the end of the chain as an eq my sound it’s not bad to holly shxxt It’s really hard to make this pedal sound bad No mater what application I had the tonex twice it didn’t work for me The opus can come close to majority of the different amps on the market For heavy metal riffs leads you need a boost or distortion pedal and your there I bet you could do vocals through it it would sound amazing It’s Swiss Army knife Iam getting one more Down the road This pedal is killer

Does seem to be a trend of companies looking at the dozens of full featured multi-fx units and thinking "hey, if I split various bits of this into separate standalone products then I can sell them for a lot more money". I'm sure this would be a world beating product if was the first of its kind. But it's just another pre-amp with a cab sim, with very limited controls on the unit. It doesn't seem to be doing anything new or unique. There's thousands of these. I own probably ten things already that do this. Why anyone would buy it over one of the many others? Especially when you look at what you can get for the same money. At some point, companies are going to have to realise that the market can't support hundreds of near identical products being released every month.

We actually take the stance akin to a Studio Situation where you would apply any Spacial FX post your Amp & Cab signal - we feel this will give you the best results by a long shot. Most pro delays can take a line level signal and as such, you would simply need to run OPUS into these via the TRS 1/4-inch out! Let us know if you have any questions concerning this!

@@robinr22Because the Two Notes cab sims completely blow away any others, definitely the Helix. To the point where they were worth it for that alone. Yeah, I have the previous model (Cab M), and a Helix Stomp. The latter no longer lives on my board, and I'm considering selling it. Might sell both and get this one if they release a few more bass preamp models for it.

I don't know how it's possible. BUT! Using a Boss EQ coupled with reverb will simulate a cab. The reverb must be set to 1- 2.

Guys! All this new tech is awesome BUT how about videos in real world use? I´m old and lugging around my 2x12 is not quite as easy as it used to be! This really should have been a firmware upgrade for the CAB M+ it's basically just some extra pre-amp models, remember the CAB M+ already has the bassman, a USB-C port and a better impedance for the DI, oh and it's black..... save your money if you already have a CAB M+ there are better pre-amp models and pedals out there

This was more of a product-demo than a review… What do you think about the quality of tone? Does the amp-sim cover the compression-style and grit of the different tubes? What about the dynamics? Is there a better solution on the market (for e.g. Boss IR2, Humboldt DSM, Strymon Iridium and so on)) for homerecorders and/pr practicing?? I whatched this video because I can’t decide and its only PR. Disapointing…

Been using and gigging a Cab M and a Cab before that for something like a decade. Studio recording, too. dead quiet unless dialing in something noisy on purpose. No idea where they're getting all that racket from.

@@wawuschl6977 To be fair I can't guarantee... reading more there are significant changes inside, and some folks on some videos are complaining about noise. But some vids have no noise at all, so... who knows. I can just say that previous models gave me no noise troubles at all. I'd just get it from somewhere with a return policy, and hold onto my Cab M until confirmed good to go.

Unless there are tubes in the pre-amp, I'm not interested whatsoever. IR-X was a game changer for me. Makes everything else with a digital front end sound and feel flat. Physics is physics I guess.

Doesn't Lee know his country's history ?? LoL. "Albion" was the old archaic name for the British Isles in the days before it was called Great Britain. Obviously referencing "British" style (or Marshall) amps.
