The auto scheduler is there to eliminate the tedious task of assigning every student to every class to every room to every teacher and 85% of the time it works like a dream. However, comma, when it doesn't work properly you get absurd and inefficient room demands, staffing demands and overall failures in logic and sensibility. Today I will give you some tips and tricks to exact some acute percussive maintenance on our friend the auto-scheduler next time it demands you build a whole new room for just one class.

I tend to 3 star my campuses through a mix of chaos and stubbornness, but your tips are really helpful. Knowing how to avoid having to build 5000 extra classrooms will be a huge help. Thank you!

I have 100% get through it this way also! I watch all of these, love the videos and ideas, then just ignore it all and brute force my way through!

Thanks for your tips on this. It's definitely something that's ripe for a bug fix. Maybe a "recalculate/reassign" button on the scheduler page, or at least the ability to drag and drop classes in to available rooms to manually set them.

The problem is that each class also has an attached teacher who might be teaching something already in that slot. This is why sorting your lecture halls into single subjects can sometimes fix the problem: it makes it less likely for teachers to get stacked on the same time slot when they don't need to be. This is why I think they're taking their time with a patch to the auto scheduler, not because they are ignoring the issue but rather they're trying to find a way to fix it that doesn't cause other things to break.

If you modify which students can enter the rooms from the timetable screen (click on room), then it will adjust right away to reconfigure the timetable.

I have had the most success with this when I close and then reopen the room in question. That seems to work the quickest for me in terms of forcing a recalculation.

Was seeing what I thought was a bug and getting the need to almost double things from year to year, without the student numbers changing that much. Picking stuff up and back down again fixed the problem - didn't think to check that the timetables were to blame

I've come across a number of the fixes you mentioned here inadvertently while replaying Mitton and adding the Virtual Reality course. It's an interesting "quirk" in the game, that I'm sure they'll iron out in later patches. I don't know if TPH seasoned players are more savvy to the "quirks" that came about in that game. I think that experience adds well to to the challenges of the "quirks" in TPC. The only regret I have with TPC is the lack of background music content. I'm playing it now without really listening to the audio. That's the only drawback I have of the game so far. Thanks Pinstar! Your tips to play both are Awesome!

Another strategy, I might add, is to close all the classrooms using for the class, save the game, quit to map and reload the save. This will force the game to recalculate all the classes as well as the number of classrooms, and could usually solve the issue. Then you can reopen all the classrooms to fit the classes.

I've always set my lecture theaters up like that, anytime I add a new course I give them their own Lecture Hall

The Auto-Scheduler was doing this to me on the Archaeology map. …I built the extra room then sold it as soon as the year started. I didn’t even have multiple classes at the time.

What is the student limit on xbox one. I have three stars on all the maps except the last one. When I attempt to adjust the current intake it says "percent of Applicants Intake will be reduced to avoid exceeding campus capacity." But after I adjust it and save, the numbers will change destroying my profit margin by increasing some intakes and reducing others. I dont have any control whatsoever.

I think the main reason they have the auto scheduler is because manually scheduling classes each summer would be much more tedious, especially if you have a larger campus with many different classes sharing rooms. I do agree that a manual override would be most welcome, but I also know that mixing automatic and manual systems can sometimes cause more problems than it solves. The devs are aware of the issue at least.
