Chris and I headed up to the Diamond on 6/2/20. We climbed The Casual Route day 1, rappelled back down and on day 2 we climbed Pervertical Sanctuary. We topped out, hiked all the way back to our bivy at the base and spent the night, intending to climb D7 on day 3. We woke up to wind and a lack of psyche so we ended up hiking out to head to Denver to participate in the the ongoing protests. I was bummed not to climb D7 but it was very worth heading back early to march.

As someone who just started sport climbing your videos are an amazing way to look into the world of trad climbing and gives me such an urge to go climb, and in some way is helping me deal with the height and falling aspect, I’ve watched a lot of vids and can’t stop watching, your an inspiration and are setting a goal I wish to achieve eventually in my climbing career. Keep up the great content and great climbing man 🤙🏼

What amazes me is that most people who die on Long's are hiking the Keyhole route. I don't know how it is that more people who climb the Diamond don't die, because you guys are nuts, but props to you.

Awesome climbing!! You guys missed the Chasm View rap coming down, it would have saved you 4ish miles coming down the normal trail. Longs is such a gem!

Did you guys use twin or half ropes?
@tylerkarow
@tylerkarow 4 жыл бұрын
We actually used Beal Operas which are 8.5 single ropes. A bit too heavy of a system in my opinion but they worked well.

What was the reason for two ropes on this climb? Just a curious noob 😂
@climbJunkie
@climbJunkie 3 жыл бұрын
If you are planning rappelling off this particular wall you need two ropes to get down. You could climb on a single rope and carry a second skinny rope for just the raps but if you are going to have to carry two ropes you might as well take advantage of climbing on two ropes. Personally, I prefer to climb on two ropes up in the alpine due to redundancy (falling rock can cut a rope), wandering routes (two ropes can reduce rope drag), and being able to do long rappels when the weather turns.

@@climbJunkie thanks for the info! I definitely plan on climbing with two ropes next year. I also need an extra rope in case my first rope gets stuck so I can rescue it! Pulling it down from a rap it got stuck in a crack on a ledge but I was able to whip it out from the ground!🍀
