It's fine for him to have standards but if he's looking for perfection in another person, which he will never find, then all the unrealistic criteria are really a defense mechanism to stay out of a relationship. There isn't anything wrong with wanting a woman who takes care of herself, is tidy, and makes time for her man but I think he doesn't want to gamble. Sounds fear-based. No, girl, most men want what most women want - a healthy relationship, true love, a reliable and trustworthy partner, but if you're only offering sex, then you'll only attract men who want only sex. I don't think there is anything wrong with his standards, everything he said would be noticeable to me, but they are fixable. I think the problem is that he is starting to think his standards are too high, because his delivery or perspective is turning people off. A professional pedicure and podiatrist can correct feet. A maid service can fix a house. But only Christ Jesus can fix a wounded spirit. He can find a woman with perfect feet and tidy house, but her soul may be purchased by satan. His issues reflect some internal issues because he cannot distinguish between what is easily remedied and what is supernaturally up the individual to change.

Spot on. I dated a Russian woman who was a little bit like Valentina but without the meanness. Very stand-off'ish and defensive but passed it off as being strong. When inside all she wanted was holding and protecting. I never got through to her tho & we broke up.

It's a defense mechanism and often the way we were raised: don't cry, don't show your feeling or people will think you're weak, etc. This is what I heard around me ever since I could walk and talk. And if that's what you hear as a little kid, you only build your walls higher and thicker as you get older but the walls that keep you from getting hurt also keep the good people out. It's really hard to change all that as we are getting older but not changing it is even worse.
