Lets do some water reflections in watercolor. Often requested but I've never done a dedicated video to it. So here goes. These are two basic and simple approaches I use. Hope you'll give them a try. NOTE: Giveaway has ended.

I want the thank you package. But I don't expect you to send it all the way to the UK! I recently retired from work and decided to get back to watercolours after a 45 year break! Hi, as I am a self-taught watercolor person, other than KZfaq videos, I have attempted reflections, in water & recently in an ambitious replica of a log cabin showroom building, in their windows. I did that & some lakeside reflections with NO teaching at all. I just went for it. *You had me saying “wow” at home, by myself, as you made it look simple & easy.* I was impressed with your 1st layers, then it kept getting better. “I do want the thank you package” and I think your items in the give away are supremely generous & intriguing. A thousand “Thank You’s” for teaching me reflections & so much more. I’m going to practice these techniques. Next time I need to paint window reflections I will be ready.

Thanks Steve..was reflecting on reflections today and whaaala came on your demo .."I was doing everything WRONG..." My reflection looked like I was digging a hole in the water not good.. A Remedy Project I’ve been battling cancer since last year (and before then I was fighting it unknowingly) and I’ve not long ago finished main treatment but won’t finish all adjuvant therapy for a decade. In my case it was hard to do art through main therapy treatments (mushy brain!) BUT the thought of getting well enough to do art kept me going. Good luck!

Congrats on 5 year anniversary of this channel! I want the thank you package. I really like the natural soft look of reflections, and wondered about painting it in watercolor for a long time, but it seems so difficult. I really like your video, it is very easy to understand and instructional. I can't wait to DO my first water reflection practice! I agree that observation is a great way to paint realistic looks, and then incorporating artistic sense.

Water isn't blue... The blue color of the ocean is a reflection of the color of the sky, just like our actions are a reflection of our thoughts, our paintings a reflection of our personality, and life itself only a reflection of what we allow ourselves to see... Watercolor reflections made of water itself, definitely my favorite topic for watercolors, it's all so meta... :)

I remember my first visit being amazed that within only a couple minutes of driving we saw evergreens, palms, succulents, cactus, and bamboo. Here in the high desert, not so much!

I want the Thank You package like everyone else. - BUT, even if I don't receive one, your video is so timely for me. I work with my 15 year old granddaughter once a week helping her experience watercolor. Our last session before school begins will be on the 6th. And our planned subject is water and reflections. Many a weekend and holiday spent on the lakes in the upstate not far from you growing up...swimming, skiing, fishing, and maybe some cruisin' and sunnin'. Particularly Lake Greenwood. Lots of family picnics with the whole bunch of us...watermelon, fresh churned ice cream, burgers, fried chicken, or even just packed sandwiches and chips. Sometimes whatever it took to get packed and on the lake the fastest!!!

I think I learned so much from just this one video! I like that you brought the photo into view several times and demonstrated why you were doing what you were doing.. and I love the tip about not charging in with too much water - it sounds simple but for myself having no formal training other than YT videos, that little tidbit hadn't really occurred to me and now I'll be much more cognizant of my water to paint ratio when charging. I want the thank you package!....... I love you so much. You brighten my day, you were my first and I must tell you, you remain my favorite watercolor tutorial program. I did Shari Blaukopf workshop in Holland. She did a lesson about reflections. At the urban sketchers symposium in Amsterdam another lesson about reflections. Now you do a demo about reflections. I’m going to be a relfections master by the end of the year! I want the thank you package.
