It's almost spring time, and Susie is excited for fresh strawberries! Today two year old Susie is making a strawberry crisp, or cobbler. We've added some extra mixed berries in this recipe for a little more pizazz and color. We also substituted maple sugar for some of the white sugar.
We get ours from Green's Sugar House in Vermont, and it can be used in place of white sugar any recipe.
You can get some here: greenssugarhouse.com/
Check out Cutezeeludesigns.com to get your own custom apron and matching hat, or visit the etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/CuteZeeLuDe... and use the coupon code "Susie" for 20% off your order.
The recipe is pretty easy!
For the Berries:
6 cups of berries
3 tbs flour
1 tbs Sugar
1 tsp vanilla
For the "Crispy Crumb Topping:
3 cups of flour
1 cup of oats
1 cup of sugar (we used half maple, half granulated)
Pinch of salt
Do what Susie does (although I don't recommend eating all that butter) and bake at 375 for 45 minutes!
Additionally, if Susie is near hot things we try as best as possible to keep her in her kids sized oven mitts. They are under $10 and you should consider getting some for your kids if they are working with you in the kitchen.
