Also people just assume its playing classical music on an acoustic guitar. It is not. It is a separate model of guitar with different strings and sounds produced. It has a completely different technique too. I genuinely love playing it because it's a really fun instrument. We play a lot of flamenco style music which sounds really good on classical guitar but the most fun thing is blues with slurs and glissandos

Hey, I'm the classical guitarist from the first video and I'm really glad so many people liked it! Thank you so much for reacting to it, I'm super honored to be in this video! 😊 Though I never expected it to get this much attention, I'm glad it did and I'm glad that a lot of people have started to see the classical guitar in a new light :) (even though if I knew the video would become as big as it did, I probably would have warmed up and not have played it on my bed first thing in the morning) Stay safe, healthy, and practice everyone! Edit: people don't seem to understand- I wasn't using a foot stool lol. I was sitting cross-legged on my bed. Though you definitely should use a foot stool :))) Edit 2: I'm very aware my playing was not super amazing or perfect lol, and I know there were soo many mistakes in it- i said it in the reddit post but yeah; there are definitely tons of guitarists who definitely deserve to be more well-known! If you wanna check out more classical guitar, my personal favourite classical guitar composer is Barrios! His tremolo pieces sound amazing and are super fun to play :)) Glad to see so many guitarists though, and I'm super happy to have so many people acknowledging us!

Me, a guitarist: Two set violin: classical guitar is underappreciated Me: JUSTICE FOR THE GUITAR Edit: okay so seems that there is a little bit of misunderstanding, people who say that guitar is already mainstream, no. Electric (which is a whole genre on its own) , semi-classic (folk), electroacoustic, etc. And there is classic which is mainly related to Spanish playing (in general) And the picking and strumming and even the fingering and the strings are different from other types of guitars Edit 2: and yes ukelele players are really underrated and I agree and I really hate when they call it "a mini guitar" it's not, it's a whole instrument on it's own and its unique in its own way

When you think about it, a guitar is 1 half a piano. When we play a classical piece we have to imitate 2 hands when we only have the use of 4 fingers. Unless of course you implement 8 finger tapping as some do.

Fingering melodies on guitar and violin are stressful in different ways, on violin you worry about intonation and string crossing, on guitar it's the amount of distance you have to cover smoothly compared to the violin and while the frets do act as a guide, you really should be aiming to get your finger right up against the fret wire where it's possible so you can relax your fingers more as it really saves your fingers and allows freedom of movement, the stress in running scales on guitar for me, especially as I get used to the strings on violin being a fifth apart is remembering that on the guitar it's a fourth, then just to throw you off again there's the minor fourth between the G and B string, you know but sometimes you still get mixed up! Fifths just make more sense to me, even as a guitarist picking up violin! Could not play that piece on either tho!

from guitarist perspective - the tremolo is actually the hardest technique in that piece to really nail, look up recuerdos de la alhambra. It's just surprisingly difficult to get every single rapid plucking op the strings at the exact same volume and tone. Because little talked about fact - in classical guitar the tone of the note depends heavily on the shape and angle of the nail, so with tremolo you are having to make sure that each pluck with each finger is angled in just the right way to have even tone. Well.. that's if you wanna master it... or you can just be lazy like me and settle for speed! hoho

When you play classical guitar, you put the guitar on your left leg, which puts the guitar at an angle, giving more access to the higher frets. Normally, you would prop up your leg on a footrest. I play electric but I do this since its more comfy.

the arpeggiated chords, as you play more and more classical guitar, just becomes something everyone does to get better and more separate sounds. It's just a really good thing to practice, and helps with actual arpeggios, tremolos, and a whoooole ton of right hand techniques. if you want better sounds and want to learn how to move your right hand fingers quickly, arpeggiated chords are the best way to practice and create a satisfyingly smooth and softer sound.

As a former classical guitar student my take on this is that, yes the left hand stuff looks difficult -- but not that crazy for guitar. The frets do help a lot in getting the intonation right -- I would imagine it's a lot more difficult for a violinist. In general the most difficult part in classical guitar is the right hand finger picking, not the left hand -- even if the left hand stuff looks more difficult on camera. It's for a good reason that the right hand (for most people the dominant hand) is used for the finger picking.
