@@Lina321_ All the things wrong with your comment: I don't care about being funny -- all I care about is the truth; attacking me instead of addressint that truth doesn't change it; you called me kid, and the only ones who do that are kids, which fits with the anime pfp; and then you liked your own comment. And that last part is the least important one (and it could be someone else), but I've never seen someone try so hard, just to be funny, and failing so miserably, that it's the saddest part. And is me editing my comment for spelling mistakes what you _really_ focus on? Because that's petty. And before you think of it, don't respond with a, "your face is petty!" Better yet, don't respond at all. It would be too much to ask for you to delete it, and neither of us care enough -- or maybe you get off on clicks.

Eddy had just played a wrong note that was higher than what he was supposed to be playing-that’s what the “overtone” was
@pierresauce8307
@pierresauce8307 Жыл бұрын
@@jamaluddinkhalifa8371 Overtones in this context are unintentional harmonics that result from improper technique. Press the middle of a string against the fingerboard and vibrate it, two notes will be produced. The lower/main note is called the fundamental, the overtone is a much higher note that comes from the upper section of the string. When these produce undesirable sounds you can prevent the overtone from sounding by muting the upper section of the string, but they were new to this instrument and were just focusing on even making any notes at all. So she was basically saying he had bad form.

so in my seventh grade orchestra (the place I started learning bass), I was the only bass, so when my teacher would guide me through the bass part, everyone would just stare at me. Multiple times throughout the year, I'd hear some random violin say "bass looks so easy" and then turn around and see them turning their head away trying not to look like they'd said anything. I take a lot of pleasure in seeing these violinists suffer.

Finally, muster enough courage to watch this episode at the end of 2021. Just want to say thank you to Twoset and Phoebe, this video means so much to me as an ex-bassist. I have learnt the double bass for nearly a decade, but I remember I played really poorly. I don't have much strength, can't even hold the bow properly (I was doing the french bow). The music education I received was very exam-oriented so I was really bad at sight-reading and felt like I could only play the three pieces from the ABRSM and still played it badly. Also, I didn't practice enough, partly because I was lazy and also partly due to other factors in life. Even my teacher once suggested I should quit learning when I was preparing for my Grade 8 exam. I cried a lot and told her I wish to just stop it after I passed grade 8 because we have already spent so much time on it. I literally just passed the exam, still believed the examiner took pity on a little girl (I looked younger than my actual age)and just give me the pass when my playing didn't justify it. Then I never once touched my bass and it has been 8 years since. I thought it meant I didn't like double bass that much and it doesn't matter. And later I just locked away some of my memories...for example, If you asked me at the start of this year, I don't even remember how to read bass clef but can at least read treble and tenor clef given the time. However, I found your channel in the middle of this year and you guys bring me so much joy. Slowly but surely, I started to remember stuff related to double bass. The exam pieces I used to play, the beautiful harmonic sound when I go beyond 5th position, some funny stories when I was playing in the orchestra. And there's suddenly one day I realize I actually can read the bass clef, it just clicked in my head. And I have been tempted to start learning an instrument since I joined this community. I've always wanted to learn piano, and the tone of cello/flute is very lovely, but I realize if I am ever going to start playing any instrument again, I would still pick double bass. (But double teachers are so rare in where I live and I can't even find any double bass sheet music in music stores that are NOT syllabus of ABRSM LOL) I guess this means deep down I am still very fond of double bass and thank you for letting me make little peace with my past self. Back to the video, it was hilarious to see you guys now understand what it was like to play the bass! And even better when Phoebe just roasted you. I remembered the pain from playing but I don't remember I ever complained so much XD It is also funny to see Brett did a finger vibrato on the bass and Eddy whined about the pinky when you were not even pressing on the thickest string. Definitely give me a confidence boost when I think back to my experience of playing! Thank you so much. 2022 is approaching whilst I am typing this, once again thank you Brett and Eddy for the love and passion of classical music you shared with me and many others in the world. Wish you a happy new year from the bottom of my heart!

Literally any time any violinist picks up a bass for the first time: "I didn't realize how big it was!" "This bow is so heavy!" "How do you even push down the strings?" Every time. Without fail. And they wonder why basses can't play 10 notes per second or play across 3 octaves in half a second. Everyone needs to try bass for an hour to appreciate what a monster of an instrument it is.

I was a violinist for like three years(I still play it) but in middle I switched to double bass because it seemed cool. It wasn’t that hard and I actually didn’t have to press down hard. I quickly got used to it and has been playing it for 3 years now and I recently started the cello.
