As soon as I saw the title of this video I thought about Smalljaw. The guy taught me to tie a couple of years ago. Glad you mentioned his site. He deserves a kudos. The other guy a watch a lot is you. 2 guys that I have learned a lot from. Keep up the good work boys! Good tip about holding the jig and blowing from the back to look for thin spots.

Hi Ben - great video, thank you for sharing your technique... so I live in NH where we are not allowed to use lead jigs or weights 1oz or less, can you recommend another jig head I could use to make my jigs? Looking to make those finesse ones for early spring and smallmouth. Thanks, appreciate the help!!

Thank you for sharing the video. I can start saving my plastics with the bait keeper. I noticed that Owner does that to their "Jungle Flipping "hook. Good advice on your marabou jigs too. I am currently tying buck tail jigs. What are the dimensions of your toaster oven that's on the bench? I am looking around for a good oven to cure plastic coat.

Great video Ben, thanx! Just starting out with these for smallies and need to get a vise and other supplies. For some reason your link for the vise isn't able to bring me to it. Any recommendations for a vise that's not overly expensive? I'm figuring you'd be targeting smallmouth with that particular jig - R U dragging it more than swimming it? Seemed like a 2/0 would be kind of large for a light jig like that, but I'm not very knowledgeable. In my regular smallmouth fishing seems #1 and 1/0 seem to be the recurring sizes that most often pop up. That was a great tip on tying in the weedguard strand to form a serious baitkeeper on any EWG hook!! When would you use marabou vs. craft fur vs. bucktail? Learned a lot from urm video!!

Ben, When you use the Gamakatsu 111 Hook and tap it with a rubber mallet will it still be ok to use the mold for using other hooks for making ned rigs? I'm in process of buying a Midwest Finesse Jig Mold for ned rigs and if I could still you the mold for making Marabou heads that would be great!!! Thanks for any help or advice!!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!

Blood quill marabou and Extra select have there place. Marabou is a feather not hair. Marabou useally comes from turkey or other birds. . I've been tying 12 years and it can get technical with tying different ways. For me extra select marabou is usually for wrapping around the hook shank. Blood quill or wooly burger marabou is for tails on jigs.

You are adding confusion to the subject. This is a great jig, but not a hair jig... it is a marabou jig. Marabou is a feather, hair is hair. Hair comes from critters. Thought you had OCD? Been tying over 40 yrs...haven't researched it since I started, but I believe feathers still come from birds.

This reminds of the classic debate of crabs vs STDs. I mean technically you can get STDs and crabs from screwing but crabs are critters. Been screwing for over 40 years and haven’t researched it but I believe crabs still come from the bush.
