I think it’s great that youre showing this part of the journey. I know locs are supposed to be hair freedom, but life happens, mental health happens, and it’s nice to see how even microlocs can be repaired and brought back. And shout out to your mom’s love, patience, and dedication.

This is a very important video series for people considering microlocs or sisterlocks. Life happens, and we do have to think about how (or whether to) continue a loc journey after extended periods without a re-tie. Thank you for keeping is updated on your progress.

Your hair does look pretty. I believe with your Mom's tender care in retying the new growth, they will thicken up again in time. The roots look really neat, so with your resolve to give them regular TLC from here on, your locs will look even better in a few months. Superb job Mom!🌺🌿

Your mom is amazing. I’m glad she’s been able to help save your locs. I’m also in the middle of retightening mine after neglecting it for 3 full years lol I didn’t retighten the back at all in that time and now I’m trying to fix it. Like you I surprisingly don’t have as much damage as I thought I would but I do have a few that I had to combine. I want to finish by May too but the way it’s looking I’m not so sure lmao

Question. So what's your plan on a retie schedule with a loctician since it's taking a month to get the retie and fix done? Are you gonna start you six week clock from the time your entire head is finished or...?

I plan on doing my first retie 4 weeks from our finish date to prevent the back from going more than 8 weeks

@@TyKaraAnn That's a great plan! I've been doing my own locs for 10 yrs. I taught my oldest daughter to do the same. Every 6-8 weeks is best and least time consuming. However, our locs are not as tiny as yours. Your mother does a wonderful job 👏🏾 I'm glad it's working out well for you 🤦🏽♀️

Thank you for sharing this. Your hair is beautiful and your mother did a fantastic job. After watching her work, it gave me the answer I needed which is to put this style on the backburner until I get older. I have way too many little ones to be able to devote any time to retightening locs -- let alone sitting in a stylists' chair if it came to that.

I was trying to decide if I wanted to cut them out, so I stopped getting them maintained.

I neglected my locs for a bit and had the same problem. Finally went to get a retie and the stylist put my locs together. Now I have loce half as many locs and they will have doubled snd tripled ends. I'm so sad snd don't know what to do. If anyone knows what I can do please help .

I was thinking the same thing. Because she has dense hair, her locks didn’t need to be that small. When I got mine installed my loctician said because I have dense hair, there was no reason to put my micro locks so small. I have 503 and I’m happy with the quantity I have. I didn’t want to have over 500 locks because that’s a lot to maintain. Her mom has done a great job fixing the damaged locks and rebuilding her grid.
