Something to consider for portability I usually stream my desktop to a cheep laptop (and phone as a additional safety net) so if I need to be somewhere or meet with a client I can still access the programs and the powerful hardware in my desktop along with the piece of mind that if I loose the laptop I still have all my files and a way to work on my projects with easy upgrade paths in the future and not having to dish out hundreds if not thousands if I lose my laptop I can just buy another cheep one same day even especially if I'm far away from home or in another country and just continue working with out hiccups Obviously this isn't for everyone but definitely something to consider if you have the ability to do this

@@dualityofmorons there's plenty of ways and they all have their ups and downs and I don't have enough time to explain all of them but typing "remote desktop" or "how to access one PC with another PC" will get you started down that rabbit hole I'll explain the simplest way to do it which is with a remote desktop or a desktop forwarding service I use Google Remote Desktop because it gives me the least lag even on the other side of the planet as long as I have a stable high-speed internet connection and the nice experience of not constantly having to troubleshoot problems but your milage may vary This method requires you to keep the PC you are trying to access permanently on (not recommend for obvious reasons) or on sleep mode with the setting changed so that it will wake up when you open the program on your other device (recommend) plenty of tutorials for this online and you can find one specifically for whatever software you choose to use with this method obviously if you have someone who always has access to your PC you can have them turn on and off the computer to by pass this

For sure. Using a remote connection is the best. I have used even a 2GB ram chromebook to tunnel into a machine at home and did some 3D work as well as messing around in VS Code. Since I had a good connection speed was enough for frame rate to be ok as long as I didn't forget that I wasn't on a work station and tried to whip the model around too fast and skip past what I wanted to see. For those interested, I just used a Chrome browser (obviously as I was on a chrome book) and used their remote desktop tool. Set it up on both machines and it works great! Of course I would also get a VPN if you are remoting in from a public place like a Starbucks. Keep all your transmitting encrypted. Nice thing about the Chrome Remote Desktop tool is that it survives reboots / power cycles so even if your machine at home reboots for some reason, you can still tunnel into it and you will see whatever your login screen at home would be. remotedesktop.google.com/

though i wonder how a geforce and quadro would run in an environment full of hundreds of assemblies in fusion or solid works. like parts in assemblies. how well would each card perform cuz i think thats where youll see the difference between the two?
@mjs28s
@mjs28s 2 жыл бұрын
Geforce cards work pretty nice for SolidWorks but a quadro is best. However, for most...the vast majority of users, Quadro quickly drops in cost to payout ratio. Even 14 years ago I could run a pretty decent sized assembly with 100ish parts without issues. Well, if someone thinks they need 60 FPS for everything and one gets elitist about it then spend thousands of dollars on that high end Quadro, but a $500 gaming card is more than enough especially today. RAM, hard drive speed, and CPU clock speed will be your biggest bangs for the buck. I'll take 20 FPS on a large assembly with fast load and save times over a high-end card that gives me 50 FPS on the same model but I ran out of money for a screaming storage setup and only a modest amount of ok ram. Nothing will chap your ass in the long run than watching an hour glass while a large assembly loads. A high-end quadro card can be way more than an entire system that would run Solid Works pretty well. Fusion - no idea. Rhino runs well with any gaming card as does Moi, Space Claim, Alibre, and AutoCAD (all from my experience).

Interesting, I'm looking at civil CAD software, and Carlson Civil suite working on top of Intellicad or Autocad. They say not to use Quadro cards and recomend RTX series cards.

As far as I experienced quaddros gpu don't really benift with Fusion-360. Gaming cards are having better DIRECTX 11 performance. Fusion DOES NOT USE CUDA CORES
@BlackSmokeDMax
@BlackSmokeDMax 3 жыл бұрын
I thought i remember someone from the fusion team mentioning on the forums that processors are what matters for fusion 360. It doesn't take advantage of GPUs. Note, if you use Solidworks, the better GPU you get, the better off you are.
@TylerBeckofTECHESPRESSO
@TylerBeckofTECHESPRESSO 3 жыл бұрын
Great point! As I understand it, Fusion and Inventor take advantage Directx 11 making a gaming card a great buy but a Quadro will still work....but probably overspending for something you may not need. . Solidworks typically benefits from the Quadro with it's certified drivers.

You can easily install Autocad LT 2024 & Revit LT 2024 and work smoothly on intel i3 3rd generation processor. I have tested it on my Dell Laptop and 100% working. My Laptop specification is given below:- Processor - i3 3227U @ 1.90 GHz. RAM - 8 gb DDR3 @ 1600 MHz. SSD - 500gb SATA, speed of 540 MB/s Read and 500 MB/s Write. Integrated Graphics Card - Intel (R) HD Graphics 4000, 1792 MB VRAM. When I worked on Revit LT 2024, The CPU was working it's maximum base clock speed of 1.89 GHz and usage was around 26% only.

My Alienware R13 (not that I recommend that OEM) runs a RTX 3060, I7-12700F and 32G RAM. It runs Inventor 2023 great. To cut the price, maybe go with a 13th gen I5, since single core is (almost) everything. The 3060TI benchmarks better for gaming, but I like the comfort of the extra VRAM.
