The E8000 i think is typically used to glue phone screens or glass phone backs, so it doesn't need to be especially strong and that's also why the needle point is there
@mirceamihai94
@mirceamihai94 2 жыл бұрын
Actally it is a very, very strong glue. It needs to be. You wouldn’t want your phone falling apart. It needs to hold on very tight, the tolerances are microscopic in the mobile industry. It is very similar to b7000 which is an industry leader in the electronics repair business, the jewlery industry, etc. It might not work as well for wood (absorbed?) but it works great on glass, metal, plastics. My suggestion to Tyler is to test these types of glues.

Yea i use E8000 at work, im a phone technician. Its practically a rubbery glue. not very strong , but is good for gluing the back on phones. Mostly used for iPad homebuttons. Not used to glue glass on screens. That glue is called LOCA, and it only works under uv light.

@claritey
@claritey 2 жыл бұрын
The reasons for pricing it like that are many: 1. To show up first in a search sorting lowest to highest price. If they priced it as $10 cost + free shipping it would show up in the middle of price sorting. 2. To make a return pointless. If the company only refunds the original price and not shipping then they only pay a few cents refund. They get to keep the "shipping" cost and the returned item. Shady af. 3. Psychological effect. It "looks" like the cheapest one and therefore the best deal because the "price" is incredibly low. People tend to ignore shipping as part of the product price. Its how Wish operates in general and Tyler did it several times, its basically the premise of this video. There were probably "cheaper" glues if shipping was taken into account. 4. Amazon seller fees are based on price not shipping so they are using this loophole to avoid paying fees as well as taxes.

@righty-o3585
@righty-o3585 2 жыл бұрын
The scale fell because every action has an equal and opposite reaction. You pulling the cord for the pully was causing the half attached to the floor, to pull down on the half attached to the rafters. Causing the top half to want to pull back upwards with the same amount of force that you were pulling with. When they separated the opposite reaction took place and all that energy recoiled back upwards with enough force to lift the hook from whatever it was hooked on. 😁

As far as really cheap items with really high shipping cost: 1. The slam factor. People will go ahead and buy the really cheap item ignoring the shipping cost, which is way beyond the actual cost of shipping. The seller pockets most of the shipping charge. 2. Refund cheats. You pay ten cents plus ten dollars shipping. As above, most of the shipping charge is actually pocketed by the seller. Dissatisfied customer demands refund. Refund issued: ten cents. Shipping charges are non-refundable.

You should employ some sort of ratcheting crank system for pully system, it would be much easier for you to 'pull' on the pullies. Great video, MORE GLUE!

Next time for the metal repair epoxy try ruffing up the mating surfaces of the blocks and then apply the epoxy. It should help the metal blocks bond a bit better.

That sound you said the glue was making when it was drying could possibly be the exothermic reaction of the glue.

The E8000 glue is for mobile phone repairs - fitting back glass, displays etc. It needs around 24h to dry

Before you put those two pieces of metal blocks together you should have took sandpaper to each side to roughen it up to create groove so it can Bond better, or even like a file cuz that's how you're supposed to do it whenever you're using two pieces of metal together it creates grooves therefore creating a better Bond

I was really worried about the metal repair epoxy because if it had the same effect of the first glue and sent the scale down it would send two giant sharp nails around your room but fortunately that didn’t happen

Might be wrong, cause the weird E8000 straight up looks like it has no instructions, but it kinda looks like it's contact cement, seeing that it wasn't even dry when you took it apart. I believe you're supposed to coat both surfaces, let both dry, and then stick them together. Like the glue cobblers use.

You need to use the e8000 again I used to work at an auto parts store and it was amazing but only had like a 3/6 months shelf life before it expired and became useless Probably why it was so cheap

Super glues or CA glues (cyanoacrylate) are VERY strong, but very brittle. This test showed exactly what CA glues are best at...not being pulled directly apart. However since they are brittle where they tend to fail easily is when applying force left to right or side to side. I believe that E8000 glue is a knockoff of E6000 glue. E6000 is a clear flexible epoxy glue (another brand is called GOOP glue). They tend to work well against side to side force since they are flexible, but fail when pulled apart directly. Different glues for different jobs.

If you roughen the surface of the blocks with sandpaper before applying the glue, especially the metal ones, the glue would probably hold MUCH stronger than a smooth surface. Many glues need a rough surface to adhere to correctly.

Just thought you might like to know...2 things that make super glue setup in minutes is baking soda on one side of item you are glueing. The other is actually for porus materials, use water on one side and uoer glue on the other side! I have had superior glue jobs done with the baking soda.
