I have a question that has never been asked and has never been discussed anywhere. It's about fast twitch fibres. There is very contradictory information about it. Apparently they are useful for strength and explosive strength against a high resistance, but then you ask about quickness against a low resistance and the answer is - "fast twitch fibres" Now look at certain ultra quick boxers, they arent the strongest or have the biggest punch, and then look at slower stronger boxers - which ones are more likely to have high numbers of fast twitch fibres? the stronger ones or the quicker ones? What really causes the quickness in the quickest boxers? if they apparently have more fast twitch fibres then why arent they the strongest as well? something is off or just ignored around this topic and this question never gets answered

Think of it in this sense when you are most explosive at high weights it is because the muscle is fully contracted and maximum effort at once which is fast twitch. The same thing applies to low resistance and speed because speed comes from how quickly and how much muscle is activated as once. It’s all about muscle activation in a shorter time period

Why hypertrophy occur only in type two x fibres? Why its cell size increases

well explained.

Does it mean type 2 do not use oxygen? Or they use oxygen less in the process?

The way you should think about it is type 2 cells are optimized for glycolysis… the upregulate the expression of glycolysis enzymes and upregulate the expression of enzymes the support and optimize quick usage of glucose into ATP… however they still have mitochondria and all the machinery for oxidative phosphorylation but they have an added genetically expressed specialization to do explosive bursts of glycolysis for quick ATP
