Hurt people, hurt people. Just like Naomi didn’t remember when she treated Tyra wrong, I know Tyra has forgotten that she’s done the same, that was done to her. I had to come to terms with the fact that I bullied a girl when I was in the 4th grade. I didn’t beat her up, but I believe I hit her, but I rightfully got punished for it. So Tyra has to own it, as we ALL need to do.

Look at Rihanna. She wasnt even part of the modeling world but she used her influence when she got into the beauty and fashion industry to create a whole new standard of acceptable beauty. Tyra would never bc she liked to bully the girls. She always complained about how shes too fat for the modeling world now, but she never once had a fat protegé. Shed make fun of the fat girls she brought on. She had a plus sized girl on and kept telling her to stop eating so much and had her do a photoshoot where she was dressed as a whale. Narcissists just look for a sense of superiority wherever they can. It's a disorder. It's called 'narcissistic supply'. If insulting a homophobe makes them feel good, they do it. If insulting a homosexual makes them feel good, (even though that makes them a homophobe) they don't care. They do it. They demean the rich for being 'greedy' and the poor for being dirty. They will bully pretty girls for being too pretty and having 'unattainable standards' like the vain queen from Snow White, and they will bully ugly girls for being ugly like in the ugly duckling. It's called shifting the goal post. It's abuse.

It's weird bc you're judging it through a 2020 lense lol. It's gradients. 24 cycles didnt just happen all last week. It's been 2 DECADES. Cycle 1, began advocating for black and plus size girls. First black winner cycle 3 first plus size winner cycle 10. Advocates for weirdos unconventional beauty. Cycle 3 and 12 advocates for physical impairments/deformities, visually impaired and burn/scarred models. Cycle 2 -13 advocates for short girls. It was dependent on the culture at the time and the barometer for what was en vogue. These were the inroads made so that people like you could enjoy the body positive movement you take for granted today.

@@angelabell8725 I've been watching some of the recent interviews from the models. Fo and Amina (from season 12, I think) recalled that Natalie went HAM on Tyra and the judges for over 5 minutes right after her elimination. She supposedly cussed them out and told them none of the shoots were helpful. Fo said that even though most of the girls found Natalie annoying during the season, she did them proud by expressing EVERYTHING they felt about what's wrong with Tyra and the competition. Natalie went down the line and told each judge about themselves, lol. She told Nigel he was a low buget photographer and called Jay a clown for wearing an expanding bow after each elimination. I was laughing so hard listening to this story because I remember everything they were referring to! But I most love that she apparently screamed, "When am I ever gonna get a job where I need to be ORANGE as an emotion!" So true - although that was one of my fav shoots in ANTM. It was clear that Tyra was not training the girls for real but just putting on a show for entertainment and drama. Tyra and the judges were reportedly speechless. Natalie was one of my least favorites of that season, but now I'm putting mad respect on her name, lol.

Tyra being bullied was apparently karma because I remember her saying in a interview that she used bully girls when she was in middle school because her brother and other kids would tease her about being so tall and skinny. I had really crooked teeth and my parents couldn’t afford braces (and I know crooked teeth are different than having a gap, but it still wasn’t the typical standard of beauty) and Tyra Banks was one of my role models growing up. Hearing her say that if your teeth aren’t perfect, that’s all anyone will ever see… really messed with my head and amplified my insecurity. I will never forget that. That triggered me from day one of airing.

Also most of the people who did their hair probably didn’t even know how to treat their natural hair which is sad because a lot of big name brand beauty school tend to just teach European hair styles that just include white folks hair, I really got upset as someone who studied all types of hair textures and curl patterns. Kami7 Nah Lol, Naomi really be a bully her. But Tyra never got therapy for her pain. So basically what she ended up doing was, repeating what Naomi did to her to the girls. What’s crazy is that, she admitted this in a interview once. But it was about her brother. She said her brother used to bully her when she was a child, so by the time she got to school, she became a bully because she needed an “outlet”.

Nah I think Naomi did bully Tyra. Look, the thing with internalised racism is that if Naomi was the only black girl in the whole fashion industry around for a while, you do get threatened when there is another black face. And unfortunately I think this is this internalised racism that led to Tyra not talking back to that white judge criticising Yaya. I think Tyra can be empathised with there, it was 2005

When Tyra criticized Danielle about her gap, I always thought that Tyra was a hypocrite because Tyra likes to reference back in the day models and Lauren Hutton was a huge success with her gap in the 70s. I also didn't like how Tyra didn't even want to hug Danielle when she won. She pushed past her and hugged the runner up Joanie. When I watch all if the other seasons, I noticed that she always hugged the winner first. I believe she had something personal against Danielle.

Tyra's point is nuanced. On her talk show, she was talking about the toxicity that the media had around her weight, which was by no means overweight and the negative unrealistic messages sent to women outside of media. Contrasting with ANTM, where she was being honest about the expectations of a new model entering the industry and not really talking about regular women's bodies. That is, it is harder to make it if you're not within the expected measurements (this may be changing perhaps but is still relatively true). It is different for Tyra, who gained her weight as an established/popular model so she had more say over what weight/measurements could be like while still getting work. Tyra still had difficulty getting jobs and this is one of the reasons she stopped getting high fashion work and started to do more commercial work. Tyra was just being honest about what is expected of a working model.
@Quietboywasted
@Quietboywasted 4 жыл бұрын
Demelio, her point was coming from someone who fat shamed a girl on ANTM and then made her be an elephant in a animal themed shoot. Tyra also said “no ones going to photoshop you as much as we did” to that same girl after fat shaming her. Mind you, this girl was a normal size, maybe smaller than normal because she was on ANTM

Sae LaVerdad Yaya was not demeaned for her natural hair so just stop. Her attitude was stink and she thought she was better than everybody else because she had a little bit of education. Yaya also disrespected the designers clothing saying it was a fake imitation of kente. If ya ya wanted to rock real kente and was so woke she would have never been on ANTM in the first place because the modelling industry is not exactly pro black so she needed some humble pie.
