To think extremely wealthy people will pay $20K for a dog. Millions for a boat they almost never use. Take advantage of the public infrastructure and pay the least in taxes. It’s a conscious decision to keep people poor and struggling.

The mistake is believing that health care is expensive because of doctor salaries. It's expensive because of all the medical products. Those are manufactured by companies who have stockholders. They are the ones trying to make bank (and the medical insurance companies -- who also have stockholders). People need to wake up that the stockmarket has NOTHING to do with the economy. It's just rich people's gambling money. Like, the news says the price of a barrel of oil is going up, and then says the price of exxon stocks went up (rich stockholders just made more money, while you're paying more at the gas pump.

I worked in a level 1 trauma center, night shifts. We never had enough staff. We all had to do more jobs than what we were hired to do. We never saw the executives. We never felt our voices were even heard. And yes, almost every person that worked on the clock worked paycheck to paycheck. And this was in one of America’s largest cities. It is the same in every industry. Unless you find a place with a guaranteed pension, if you are a paycheck to paycheck person, you will never have retirement, you will just continue to manage to survive until you die.

Three or four decades ago my mom was working in an Import /Export business in town. One staff member spoke loudly about "Yo Semite" and what part of California it was.{Or somenthing like that hard to remember} Mom being mom, she nearly had a spit take on her coffee. The funniest thing I heard, for me anyways, is the thought that he thinks doctors are getting rich from this messed up healthcare system. That might have been true in the 20th century and still may be true for many subspecialists. But it's not the case for many of those whose specialty is pediatrics or family medicine.

I still think that capitalism can be saved, but to do so would require an entire overhaul of literally everything from campaign finance and term limits to patent law and law around competition. I'm probably way off base here as my education is in medicine and aviation. And, eventually, whatever new form it takes would be corrupted by people again.

I grew up in a political family. Democrats. But at 12 and much reading, I asked my dad why couldn't we have socialism and capitalism? I got shot down pretty fast, but I never came off it. It was bad before citizens united but got turbo charged post citizens.

I think capitalism and socialism are tools. Capitalists think they can do everything with their one tool but the reality is that capitalism only provides solutions when it is profitable. Capitalism is great for our individual wants and desires but leaving our common needs in the hands capitalism gives us economic slavery. I think our common needs should be addressed with socialism and our individual wants should be addressed with capitalism. And two currencies for them... the Freedom Dollar for capitalism and individual wants; and the Equality Dollar for socialism and common needs.
