I was USAF Security Police 71-75. I met some of the best people in the USAF, and some of the worst. I arrested a guy for shooting another airman in a dorm room, I arrested a Lieutenant for exposing himself at Base HQ, I arrested a guy for trying to get into a C-141 he wasn't authorized to board, I almost shot two civilians for trying to get over an alert area fence. Two guys I worked with were caught stealing from the Base Exchange warehouse, I knew a K-9 guy who was caught breaking into a SRAM building where nuclear components are assembled. I've seen guys dis-obey orders from Officers and nothing happened to them, I've seen a guy nearly court marshaled for accidentally breaking a light fixture. I dealt with numerous assaults, thefts and jack ass lazy mother fuckers who have never worked a day in their life and they ended up next to me at Guard Mount holding a loaded gun and pretending to be Rambo and nearly shooting someone. I saw fights between, flying officers and non-flying officers at the O Club, fights between enlisted and officers, and race related fights between black and white guys, fights between different Squadrons over who's more "bad ass", and even fights over who got the last Dr Pepper off the food truck. (yes, that petty) I even knew of a full Colonel (Wing Commander) assault a K-9 handler. I stood guard on a flight-line that was so hot the glue that held the soles of my combat boots melted, I've seen rain so hard that it stopped B-52's from launching during ArcLight, and was at a Stateside base that had -30 degrees in the winter and wind blowing at 45mph. I also learned to spit-shine shoes to British Guards standards, iron duty uniforms with so much starch in them they were stiff as boards. learned to shoot with precision, care for myself in tough situations, think on my own and rely on some of the best friends that I am still in contact with to this day. Would I do it again ? Yes. Was it fun ? Sometimes. Would I recommend it ? Only on this condition, you realize you are VOLUNTARILY JOINING the military. It isn't like a job anywhere else, you work your ass off and do the best you can, for you, not for anyone else, you do it for YOU.

I started out a 13 year assignment in Air & Security Police 62 years ago. It wasn't by choice - Air Force needs prevail - I wouldn't change the experience for anything. I performed almost everything in police work during those years and then went on in the training & education and First Sergeant fields. I finished my 29 year career as an air division Senior Enlisted Adviser retiring as a CMsgt and would do it all over again if they would let me. I wish you all well.

I have hip damage from a drunk driver that hit me so I'll never be in the Military or Lawenforcement. I am really just happy to be just a Security Gaurd working for a current security Gaurd company. 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 I've been a Security Gaurd working for a lot of security Gaurd compianes for six years now. 🇺🇸👍👍

Fresh Tech Schooler here. Security Forces Tech School isn't that bad. Its decently long so when you get to tech school, buy shit to make your dorm enough like home, but don't spend all that cash you earned in BMT. Oh, and my advise for the tech school is to not "pre-game" your training, take each day as it comes. Also, don't worry about your tech school during or before BMT. Focus on completing BMT before you focus on becoming a Defender.
@Rober597
@Rober597 7 жыл бұрын
Also, think about the bases that you will want to be stationed at because you will make your dream sheet during BMT. If you really want overseas, I recommend putting extended long on your overseas picks on your sheet. Doing this doesn't necessarily mean you will get an extended long tour, I put Misawa down as my number 3 on my OCONUS for an extended long, but didn't end up getting an extended long tour. I leave this Friday for Japan! Don't mistake this as bragging, remember this comment whenever you are going through the rough times in your training. You have to deal with the bullshit to get to the fun stuff.

Makes me proud to be SF. Sometimes moral and motivation is low but the people you work with is all that matters, that and the mission. I am a Former Security Policeman 6 years Active/9 years Air National Guard and I can tell you I wouldn't trade my time in the USAF Security Police for anything ...I loved it! It is what you make it. I was stationed at Dyess AFB for 3 years in the Strategic Air Command..we had a squadron of B52D's..4 Nuclear uploaded on alert at all times. We also had 3 squadron's of C-130's. I did Fly Away Security. We trained 4 times a year in Air Base Ground Defense at Ft. Hood Army Base against the US Army 7th Calvary Scouts. I was on one of the first EST's..Emergency Service Team's (SWAT) in the Air Force. I got to attend the FBI SWAT School and we got to put on EST training demonstrations along with the Combat Control Team across the street from Security Control. (We loaded on 2 C 130's with a Combat Control Team climbed to 20,000 ft., the CCT did a halo jump. After deploying the CCT the 130's spiraled down and did an Assault landing on a dirt strip. We deployed in our Armored vehicles out the back of the C130's and took the objective, reloaded with the nuclear weapon we recovered from the Terrorists and did a Assault takeoff)!! I was stationed for 1 year in Turkey at a secret MUNSS site. I was the NCOIC of Arms and Equipment for the Security detachment and also the Team Leader for the RRT ( Recapture and Recovery Team) a joint Turkish - American Anti-terrorist Team. When I rotated back to the World, I was assigned for 2 years at Langley AFB, VA to Headquarters Tactical Air Command. The unit I was in is the Tactical Air Command Guard...we were the Security for the CINCTAC (Commander and Chief Tactical Air Command..4 Star General). During my time in the Alabama Air National Guard I got to go to "Sliver Flag Alpha" in Indian Springs, NV, the USAF SP Desert Warfare and Survival School. It is what you make it, I did a lot of different things in the Security Police Field....AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE... except for the time I spent in a Turkish Military Prison..but that is another story!

My experience as a AP from 1961 to 1964 in France. As an E1 stood long boring hours in all kinds of weather in poor Korean War era foul weather gear guarding alert aircraft. As an E 2 worked area entrance gates and base patrol and went to K 9 school in Germany. Patrolled base areas at night with a k9. E 3 promoted to K9 flight commander. Transferred to Sabotage Alert Team Leader. Even thou this was during the Berlin Crisis in 1961 and the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, It was a very boring assignment and drinking was our main escape from it.

Defensor Fortis. The best job I ever had in my life. Like any job you get out what you put in. There are two branches of security police, law enforcement which is like a regular cop and security who defend the base and its resources. If you want to drive around in a police car giving tickets be sure your recruiter has it right because they don't mind messing people over to get their numbers.

Thank you for your service. Security Forces has combined into one branch rather than having the previous Security Police and Law Enforcement aspects. Members join under one career field (Security Forces). Pam Air Force and Space Force Recruiting Service

Giving cheesy tickets to fellow airmen doesn't interest me. It's akin to the school snitch.

This a very effective video to inspire men and women to want to sign-up. Makes me wish I had made a career in the USAF Security Police. It would have been much more rewarding than I found civilian police work. I thought I could make a difference in the real world, but found that disappointing. Not near as professional as the military or organized. Loved my time serving from 1972 to 1976 Lackland and Spangdahlem. Now Security Forces seems like a real force to be reckoned with. At least my nephew continues in my footsteps today making it a career.

Are you a jail guard calling yourself law enforcement? Or a cigarette tax enforcer? You're not a real cop.

@@thomasryan2679 Are you trying to be insulting or what? Sounds like you have an issue with something. Yes I was a "real" cop if you think only civilian cops are real. I worked for two civilian police depts for a little over 6-years during which time I was certified by the State as a Peace Officer in order to work as an officer. Prior to entering the USAF I obtain a AAS Degree in Law Enforcement as well. As you will note I was in the USAF back in 1972, so I no longer work as an LEO.

Security Specialist, '81-'87. Cold War vet. Standing watch, hoping the F-111 I'm posted on never gets scrambled. Guarding a dummy loaded F-111 in the QRA in England on the last day of an alert when they klaxon all the birds and that bird taxis out of that hangar under it's own power. The chill that goes up your spine is frightening. We won the Cold War because the real birds didn't have to fly. Our enemy collapsed of themselves while we stood strong.

Switch your classes to classes with mathematics geared towards engineering. Graduate college with an engineering degree. Then join the Airforce as an engineer. You'll have a much better experience. People with "criminal justice" degrees are a dime a dozen. You won't stand out...

Anyone joining, seriously contemplate not doing this job. If you do, please do a 4 year enlistment, cause if you hate it and do 6, that’s 2 extra years
