Why the F is there "TERMINATION FEE" on a DIGITAL PRODUCT / service?

I did a trial version of Adobe when I needed to edit a PDF and forgot about free PDF editors out there, and decided I'll just do it and cancel. I forgot to cancel and was charged and said that's fine I'll just cancel to prevent the next bill. As I tried to cancel, they said I had to pay for the remainder of a year for what they said would be a monthly subscription in order to cancel. Adobe can really go F' themselves and I hope they get sued to oblivion. I argued with them on it and they did not budge once.

Any "Early Termination" fee for a software that doesn't even need any setup by a professional should be illegal.

I bought a year of the Adobe suite for my son a couple years ago. He didn't use it and preferred the free open-source alternatives. I went to cancel the day it was set to renew, and they actually charged me for another year while I was in the process of cancelling and they said, sorry, it was too late, I was already charged. It took a good hour on the phone to convince them to refund my fee and cancel my subscription. They continued to offer me "discounts" and other "options" for their service throughout. I said it was never used, I would never use it, so why would I want a discount. Eventually got it cancelled and refunded, but I keep an eye on my cc bill because I don't trust them. Never again.

Pirating Adobe at this point is like hacking a scammer's computer and installing their malware into your computer.

Go to your bank or cal your credit card, tell them about the lawsuit and have them block further payments to Adobe. Fuck'em.

Adobe started the predatory contracts when they retired the stand-alone licenses. My old print shop had to deal with this in 2013.

ngl the best way to cancel your adobe sub is pay via paypal, revoke the automatic payment, let it fail and they'll cancel the sub because payment cannot be processed. That's what I've been doing for years everytime I don't want it anymore.

Yeah, that's why fines should be based on income. That way, company's get find amounts that actually hurt, just like when a regular person gets fined.
