Warm greetings to you and Abdulfattah! I wish I could include individual greetings to everyone, but there are too many requests for me to meet in my regular lessons. Perhaps in the future I will come up with a format that allows me to address individuals on camera. In any case, I am very glad you two are visiting my channel, and I thank you for the kind support. I'm very glad to hear this. At least two people asked me about education in the U.S. this summer, so I felt it was a useful topic to address. That's a good suggestion. Thank you. I'll note it for the future. Indeed, there are many "small" topics that need to be covered so everything makes sense in conversation. Grades are confusing to talk about because each country has its own system. In the U.S. there are quite a number of different grading scales used. Regards!

@Nestor Dario Martinez Gutierrez Good question! I'm not sure. Well, one can have a PhD in linguistics, for example. Did that person study philosophy? I don't think it's necessarily a requirement. Then again, in a liberal arts program, philosophy is often a basic requirement for certain majors. I took Philisophy 101 as an undergraduate in my first or second year. My major was not declared yet, but I was studying languages and I was planning to become a teacher. Wish I could be of more help. :) Thanks for watching and good luck with your report.

Yes, I went to junior high, too. When I did research for this lesson, I discovered that "middle school" has mostly replaced "junior high" in the U.S. today. I went to preschool and kindergarten at different schools. Then I went to "grade school" and it had two buildings: an elementary building and a junior high. After 8th grade, I went to high school in the city. I hope you'll try out the exercises on my website. Regards!

Hello! Colleges and universities both have 4-year undergraduate programs, and both can also offer graduate degrees. As I understand, universities can have colleges within them, so they tend to have large campuses. Many 4-year colleges are small "liberal arts" colleges. Universities might offer a broader range of subjects to study. Universities also tend to have larger sports programs (especially for American football and basketball). Again, there are good universities and colleges in the U.S.

Hello. You'll need an official translation of your transcript(s). Part of the admissions process will include demonstration of proficiency in English. You can locate the school(s) with the program you need and contact their admissions office for guidance. (Note: bachelor's degree - - bachelor of arts, bachelor of science) Good luck!

Yes, there's just too much to cover in 10 minutes or less. I could have gone into more detail about colleges and universities, but time was already tight. I also felt that a bachelor's and a master's degree were more common than an associate degree from a community or junior college, so I gave those priority. I'm glad that you got something out of it. :)

Hello! I'm glad you watched my video. Thank you. Would you like to write a few sentences about the system of Education in England? Do you have grades or forms? How many? Is your school day 6 hours long? I have a son about your age. He has at least an hour of homework each night (math, reading, writing, spelling) plus monthly projects, like a book report. Is your workload similar? American school kids keep busy with after-school activities. Is it the same for you? Kind wishes to you! :)

Hello. You can ask someone, like Mr. Duncan, about education in the U.K. I couldn't speak with any authority about that. Here in the U.S. colleges tend to be smaller than universities. Universities can be made up of colleges. They also may have more programs. Universities also usually have much larger sports programs (American football, basketball, etc.) I didn't want to feel lost at a large institution. I preferred the community atmosphere of a small liberal arts college. :)

Interesting names to bring up. I think the challenge today is to work within the system and allow for education to include the teachings given at home. Home schooling isn't possible for every family, but that doesn't mean parents cannot be actively involved in their children's education. Here's to curiosity, competition, and the freedom to question! I wish children everywhere a good education. Cheers!

In Saudi Arabia, our education system is pretty similar to America’s system. Students can join in kindergarten, but it’s not mandatory. We start with elementary school (6 years), then middle school (3 years). Finally, high school (3 years). After high school, your future job depends on your results in high school. Some students go to the police and the other go to university and complete their study as the same way Americans do.

hi. I was aware that different countries have undergraduate and graduate programs of different lengths, but I assumed that usually there is at least one university that is considered elite. False assumptions, like mine, are why this topic is important to discuss. :) It's helpful to understand what people really mean when they say they "went to college" or "attend the university." Did you know here in the U.S. college rankings are very important? We talk about the top 10 or A- v.s B-schools.

Dear Jennifer, my name's Cristina Serafim and I'm an English teacher in Brazil. I find your work impeccable and it's been really useful to use your videos in my classes. If any possible, please make a video on wedding customs/ceremonies in the U.S. My students keep asking me about that. Thanks a lot for everything.

Since I'm not one of those gifted people who are proficient in several languages, I couldn't tell you much about that! I wish I knew 7 or 8 languages very well. :) In any case, a multilingual person (polyglot) could work as an interpreter or translator. There could be opportunities in international business or foreign affairs. I could also see the advantages of knowing all those languages while working in tourism. The cruise line industry, for example, might be a possibility. Good luck to you!
