The live performance from the reopening of the Super Dome after hurricane Katrina is even better!!!!!! Bono added lyrics that emphasized the dire situation 10's of thousands of people faced because of the failure of the government's (state, local and federal) response. There is a video that details why U2 was chosen to perform as well as why U2 invited Green Day to join them. New Orleans has a deep, rich musical heritage (in particular, Jazz), and many living legends performed with the bands on stage that day. The Edge created a charity to ensure the musical legacy and traditions did, do and will continue in south Louisiana. New Orleans' football team is named the Saints. So the song carried, in a way, two meanings. "Saints" referred to the people actually helping those in need and also referred to the football teams' return to their home stadium after playing 'home' games in other cities. My best friend went to the game (I had to work), and because I am without a doubt, the biggest U2 fan ever, he held his phone up so that I could hear the performance live. Interesting side note: the reopening of the Super Dome came a few short years after U2 being chosen to perform at the Super Bowl following the 9/11 attacks. That game was also played in the Super Dome. The halftime performance was a very emotional and fitting tribute to the victims, survivors, heroes, and their loved ones.

Yes, this music video used CGI! This was real footage of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, but they edited in CGI aircrafts and tanks on top of it, along with altered headlines about the troops getting redeployed to help. If you rewatch the very end of the video, you can see the tank vanishes next to a sign saying "Not as seen on tv." This song is expressing outrage since the response to Hurricane Katrina was so slow and inadequate. New Orleans is a poor city and many of the residents had no way to leave. The city was underwater for a week. So many people lost their lives. The edited footage with the tanks is basically saying, "what if we cared about bring aid to New Orleans as much as it did about fighting overseas? How much of this tragedy could we have prevented if we used even a small fraction of our country's resources, wealth, and military power to save lives?" I was in middle school when Hurricane Katrina happened and it left a big impression on me. At school, we spent that fall volunteering and doing food drives. My teacher actually took in a family from New Orleans who got displaced, and that family stayed at her house for 6 months. Thank you for covering this song, and bringing attention to this issue 🙏

I find your explanation very interesting and helpful, appreciative for bringing clarity, deeper and real meaning to this video. It's so sad and unfair that people who already live in less fortunate conditions are being hit by even more adversities and lack of urgent help.

This was originally written and recorded by Scottish punk group, The Skids. This performance was performed live before the New Orleans Saints game. It was used to raise funds for victim's and music programs. Both groups are philanthropic and humanitarians. I really enjoyed your reaction Hap, thak you 🎶

Duuuuude. The live version from the reopening of the Super Dome after hurricane Katrina is even better!!!!!!!!!!! The name of the football team in New Orleans is the Saints so the song, in a way, had two meanings. One referred to those who came to help. The second the Saints team was coming back home for the first time after the storm. Bono adds lyrics towards the end of the song emphasizing the plight of those trapped by the storm and in many cases left to die. New Orleans is famous for there deep heritage and influence of music. Specifically Jazz music. The Edge created a charity to help rebuild and preserve this. There is a great video about U2 being chosen to perform and them inviting Green Day to join them. Side note: Their performance took place a few short years after U2 was chosen for the halftime show for the the Super Bowl held in New Orleans that followed the 9/11 attacks. A performance DEFINITELY worth checking out ad well and guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes.

What a great collaboration for a good cause 🤩. Thanks for suggesting it, Jill👍🤩. I love when artists of this caliber come together to raise awareness 👍. I've never heard the song before and I was thinking about a mashup too, since the lyrics at the beginning are from the Animals' song "House of the Rising Sun" to which you’ve also already reacted to. Great analysis HAP, I love your thoughts on this🤩🙋🏻‍♀️.

I only knew the beginning "House of the Rising Sun," but I enjoyed all of it. Thank you, Jill ❤ It is sad how long it took for help to get to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. It was a great reaction, as always, Hap ✌️ ☮️ 🥷

The Jackie Chan bit you referred to is a play on the Abbott and Costello comedy bit 'Who's On First'. Widely considered the greatest comedy bit of all-time. It's a must if you haven't seen it already. The retired actors' home version is the best because it was after the bit had been perfected.
