Great vid! Tim Pierce is a great example and actually backs up what Pete is saying about the Iridium as far as just picking the one sound and rolling with it. I've spent loads of time with Tim and 95% of the time he is using one amp to do everything and then switches guitars and pedals to achieve different amp type sounds. I've played all of these and they are awesome. Not cheap but totally worth it!

I think these pedals will be perfect for creating new sounds and getting out of a rut. Watching Pete change styles to acompany the sound was inspiring and fast. Two things that are hard to come by at once. Also for the gigging musician that want's the same sound on backline gear, or a studio musician looking for sounds quick.

The more demos of these beauties I watched, the more I knew I needed one! - the Dream '65 to be specific. So, I took the plunge and pre-ordered one and Andertons shipped it the same morning they arrived - even though I managed to mess up my order slightly! Major thanks to Charles and everyone in Anderton's behind-the-scenes team for stepping in to sort it out on my behalf before they could even contact me. So... what's it like in action? Pun fully intended, it really is a "Dream"! From crystal cleans to full-on distortion, going swampy along the way, it's all there. The spring reverb's gorgeous and the tremelo blows away the simple pedal I've been using. The slightly scary thing about it all is the realisation that I really don't "need" any of my pedals when using the Dream '65 - all the tones I want are there. And it's SO much easier than messing around with IRs in my DAW - it just works and sounds great. Can I do a back-to-back comparison against a mic'd-up vintage Fender '65? No. And am I ever likely to own one? Probably not. Will I ever get a modded vintage Fender (SRV or otherwise)? Failing winning the lottery... not in a million years! So, are the sounds 100% accurate? - I neither know nor care... they just sound fantastic and are instantly usable. If I had to make a "Desert Island Discs" choice of just one pedal to keep with my DAW... this would be the one.

Hay guys thanks for the great demo,, we are doing alot more smaller gigs ,smaller rooms and volume is so important to keep the bookings coming our way so these types of tools are a real life saver for us. Iam with you guys on nothing like plugging into your favorite amp and pedals it freakin inspires me to do my best job ,, but we need to use these tools to please all concerned.I have switched from in ears to a really good set of headphones, i no longer feel like iam playing in a trash bin with the lid closed tight,, and switched from my 2-10 vibralux to a black star 20 that I can run direct into the board, roll off the master and bobs your uncle. No stage volume only the mains pointing away . You feel a little less nutired when people aren’t winceing in pain and enjoying what your doing,, keep up the great demos and hide all the pink shirts from D Pete, he needs to keep up his super image,,, from ohio u.s.a. I totally agree with Lee in the "initial thoughts" segment about a cab and amp vs. plugins about the feeling of it. I use plugins when the wife is home and doesn't want to hear it. I play the amp and 2x12 when I get those few seconds of me home alone and man, I absolutely dig it so much more. Guitar is more about the feeling and the sensation for me too! As always, great content and absolutely love you guys! Howdy from Texas!

Drummers have used a "butt kicker" type transducer for years that mounts to their seat and vibrates it with a transducer so they can feel what the bass player is doing. A similar device for guitar bass players to feel what they're playing through their ampless rig could be SUPER helpful and thus popular. Something the size of a flask in one's back pocket maybe? If it connected to these UA pedals wirelessly via bluetooth that would be slick!

I have to say that I am impressed with these pedals and I plan on picking up a Dream 65. My use case scenario is that I am basically a one amp set it and forget it player. What Lee and Pete say about the feel being different is completely true, however with stages these days being really strict about volume and sometimes physical space, you really can’t get away with having a loud amp on stage anymore. In your home it may be different if you’re lucky enough to get away with a lot of volume. But for most People it’s just not feasible anymore.

Sometimes creativity comes from less options, not more. When I get into this kind of equipment, all I do is futz with all the options and combos of options. 17:15 what Cap says is true, playing direct with large speakers at high volume and lots of low end could help. I just wanted to say that I had a Mini Rectifier + Cab Clone V1, and even though the Cab Clone sucked in regards to tone, there was something about the feel and low end it presented (even through the pc speakers I played through) that made me feel there was a cab in the room.

You guys should get a DRRI and the Dream ‘65 reverb, a couple pedals and see if they handle pedals in the same way. Lately my only issue with modeling has been taking my board from my amp over to the modeling and just not getting the same thing. I know that’s a lot to ask of a modeler but, so far it’s the only place I can find where digital truly comes up short.

Best thing is to have a modeler like a Fractal (the best IMO) and you can go into your studio monitors or you can use output two to go into a power amp and guitar cab to get that “amp-in-a-room” sound and feel. That’s what I do at my studio. I don’t mind using a Fractal into headphones at home. Anyway, this technology has reached a point where you can’t argue against a “real amp versus a modeler.

as someone who can use an actual amp 90% of the time this is a great alternative to the big, pricey, multi amp digital beasts out there. For me personally, I Just need one good tone for a set, not 5 different amps to switch between. Other people may feel different though, and of course the studio is a different world.

My guitarist has the Ruby. He runs it into a Vox MV50 Clean as a power amp, then into a Toob 12S/40. Much lighter and more compact than an AC30 and you can get that sound at acceptable stage volumes. Maybe that would make a good demo UA pedal > power amp > Toob. In fact a Toob demo would be great, also with the lightweight 12/B bass cab (300W @ 8Ω and 4.5kg).

To answer Pete on changing amp models, I have an ACS1, and I definitely switch between amp models often enough to miss that functionality if I were to get one of these UA pedals. My favorite on my ACS1 is the Fender style BUT, sometimes for a particular song or set, the Vox sounds better, and sometimes the Marshal style sounds better. The Dream does sound good here, and I think I could use it for most of what I play, so I would be interested to hear an ACS1 shootout.

That's the one thing that keeps me from getting one of the UAD ones right away. They sound amazing, but I like the thought of having two different amps/settings on the left/right channels. I love playing my Vox together with my Fender as they complement each other really well and the ACS-1 can do that... would be twice the cost and space with those UAD ones. Then again, I would be perfectly happy with one UAD pedal if it really sounds and feels a lot better.

@@tonyjackson4501 thanks for the reply. So far I've only heard that the UAD pedals are way more amp like and sound better, so I'll probably go for one of them. True, but the responsiveness of a solid state amp or a digital modeller is usually not as good as on a tube amp. Many pros that are very used to analogue can probably feel that there's something off, and yet many pros are also using digital modellers. They're a great tool. I personally prefer analogue amps even though I'm not a pro. I could never get the same feeling playing through my old and trusty Line 6 POD HD Pro, and I spent two weeks with the Helix without being able to tweak a usable sound. But I do have a Boss IR-200, I got it recently, and it's great! Very responsive, great feel, and the amp models have different flavours, making my pedals sound different, especially fuzz and even distortion.

There's lots of tiny little headphone amps in the head fi world. Some like 2-4 inches long and very cheap.

A integrated headphone input should definitely be incorporated into future model revisions or new releases going forward. Also please release a Marshall inspired pedal.

I just finally broke down and ordered my Dream 65. I mainly want it so I could record with along my actual reverb deluxe in stereo. Mark my words, if it’s really as good as all the research I’ve done on it, I will seriously consider selling my reverb deluxe!

Well I was gonna get a pod go because I thought cheap compared to other multi fx pedals but having watched this Im thinking it has all the tones I like and its cheaper. This eliminates the option paralysis (as was mentioned in the video) I know its not directly comparable but its a great shout and its premium kit as I think a lot of home guitarists really only ever want two or three tones. Im lucky enough to have a wee mixer at home though. Also think it will sit really nice in front of my Marshal Origin 20W an otherwise fairly boring amplifier that no one wanted to buy off me (understandable).

After of years of being a working bass player I just decided to learn guitar, and I’m quickly realizing that what guitar players consider clean is not what I consider clean. BUT! I’m not the professional guitar player sooo there’s wisdom here I believe.

Sounds amazing! Is it possible to switch between presets without the mobile app? Using your phone to change sounds might be tricky in live concerts 😬

Great review guys! About Lee's constructive criticism... You have ppl (like me) that would like just one amp of those tree and dont want to pay extra money just to have to more amp sitting, using them once a year.. and probably the price would be too big for a pedal if just one unit now is arround 340e.

Would be cool to see a comparison between these and some of the Origin Effects stuff. They always seem to be left out of the conversation when it comes to amp-pedals.

Hey guys! Great video! These things look awesome. I’m looking at getting these three pedals (or/and an OX) for a strictly studio/recording environment. But I’m wondering if these are meant to work in conjunction with or in place of the OX. Also looking at the other 3 UAFX pedals. I’m getting a 2x12 fender tonemaster for the amp side. What combination of these things would be best to buy? Thanks I’m advance!

I use at least 10 different amp presets in my Axe FX and even though this is a great pedal, having no midi is a deal breaker. I play in a variety band and having a wide range of tones is key. This would work for a blues, jazz or funk player.

Really need to hear these with a pedalboard in front. As a long time AC30 player who relies on pedals, I'd love a good backup to my amp. I doubt UA have dropped the ball, but I want to test the ruby out to see if it reacts like my amp with pedals.

Ua stuff is the bomb…finally got an ox recently-frickin awesome. Love to run my amp cab at a low attenuated stting with gain from the the amp of course but also from my board but then get the OX delay and verb thru the monitors (with a subwoofer fyi) and at reasonable volumes it sounds frickin huge combined like that. Also have the golden verb on my board- best verb pedal in the world.

If I wanted to use one of these for playing at home, what would I need to pair them with as far as speakers? And would I need an additional amplifier to plug these pedals into in order to drive a speaker? Can you make a speaker recommendation to pair with this for a simple home practice setup? Thanks!
