How did your Tailbeacon install go? Are you 2020 compliant?

It was a total walk in the park. I think the entire install and programming including pulling the plane out of the hangar was a total of 30 minutes. Fired up the airplane and flew it. Got hooked up with Seattle Center with a code and asked if she could see the ADS-B and she afirmed the install. We flew for a total of 40 minutes at 10,500 and came and landed. Applied for the report and within 10 minutes we had the report printed out and we ARE ADS-B compliant. When ADS-B was first purposed I was against it as it was way too complicated and expensive. But uAvionix came uip with the perfect solution in my opinion to get compliant. It's a fun device to have on your plane too as everyone wants to come and see it. Thanks again for the video.

@@GreatMichiganBushCo i also have a 1977 hawk xp. which kit did you use, 4/40 or 6/32? mine has arrived and i ordered it and wasnt given an option on screw kits so im sure i will have to spend more to get it right

we figured it out. just get 4/40 locknuts and use the provided screws to replace the pk screws

with a factory rudder cap, the 4/40 kit installs with hardware supplied. why doesnt uavioix just list the 4/40 as the 172 kit. if we ordered the 6/32 it would have been wrong

No, we didn't show that part. We drill and painted the cap first then started the video. Texas Aeroplastic

That is the case with all ADS-B transmitters.

@@GreatMichiganBushCo No with the nav lights on all the time the nav lights dim on most retract landing gear lights and cannot be seen in day light there will be an Airworthiness Directive come put on this

I use flight aware for this. Inflight I use a Stratux with Fltplan Go

It's the threshold monitor setting in most cases I believe. If I remember correctly it was adjusting the slider till a change in transponder code reported quickly on the application. I have no installation qualifications, I'm not an IA or A &P, the above statment is only made to give you hope the solution is quick and simple. It uses GPS for altitude, the mode C does feed into the system also.

@@sblack48 this is just the ADS-B out. The tailbeacon X will do the diversity antenna and transponder out.

Just by transponder signal there's no hard wiring. It's a fully enclosed GPS WAAS ADS-B out transmitter. It scans your mode C off the transponder and sends that information via ADSB.

@@GreatMichiganBushCo so how does it know to pull from my narco transponder? like will it pull from the closest transponder signal? Also wont there be a conflict if my narco trasmitting and then the tailbeacon pushes out the same signal with obviously more information.

@@immortaljatt05 it's all pure magic. It just does it. There's a quick configuration of the tail beacon with an application that you use on either Android or Apple. This system is TSO'd and has an STC available straight from Uavionics. So it's been tested and okayed by the FAA. Beyond that I'm not sure, I know it works perfect with my narco unit.

Some people like it some people don't. The videos get very boring without some sort of background music. I'm just not great at choosing what to put in the background.
