Why are drivers asked to pay with low wages so Uber and Lyft can profit tremendously. The maintenance of drivers personal cars is not cheap and drivers should not subsidize riders with it. If you can afford Uber and Lyft and let the driver get a decent pay rate, take the bus. These companies use Mobster style threats and pay off the politicians so they can keep skimming the casino . LET THEM LEAVE. Better apps will come in

I will say this, and I will keep saying it. Drivers should be able to set their own rates. Telling a contractor What they should make. It's not a free market. I'm a business, not an employee. If I'm not getting business because my rates are too high, that's my problem.

We can design an app where the drivers are the owner operators. The more you drive, the more you work, the more you make realistically, you just have to find an insurance company to play ball and give them a decent rate

I don’t like the way they steal a lot of the surge fares and lower the time/mileage rates every year, then they hire too many drivers who just sit around when it’s slow-they cannot afford to pay hundreds to sit around, they’re not getting much themselves at those times. Suppose if other companies came in the legislature would require a minimum wage also, but they need to limit the amount the drivers who’ll just fight for scraps. The truth is there way too many drivers who want to work the slow hours, 10-3pm. Rush hour is busy, bar hours are busy, events are busy, weekend nights are busy but not everyone wants to drive those hours.

Tell them to leave they have been exploiting people for years allegedly taking between 50 and 70%!!! Drivers already pay for gas, wear and tear of the vehicle, insurance, phone, phone service, their time, etc. They need an app that makes the driver the owner operator and for a reasonable fee makes the driver the sole beneficiary of all of their hard work!!!

And another thing that i want to bring up is the Mayor will regret his decision. Because it a long run Uber and Lyft are prefect for getting Drunk People home safely without them getting in a car and taking someone life. So when that city get's more drunk drivers in the area, and Police have to respond to all of those calls daily, and police have to respond to car accidents daily due to a drink driver then the Mayor has no choice but to beg them to come back. Good Luck to all the Police Officers, EMS, and Fire that will have to respond to Car Accidents all the time due to drunk drivers.

I believe drivers should net $30/hr. That's what Uber and Lyft are telling the media that drivers make (but they are lying). Minimum wage is not enough for a risky job like this where you use your own car. If Uber and/or Lyft comes back, drivers should hold out to make $30/hr.

Uber and Lyft have the app and infrastructure. You don’t. They can just about do whatever they want. Create your own Minneapolis only app and run with it, pay your drivers 85% and you take 15% if that’s what you want. There will be a capital investment of advertising and app development, services for background checks and whatever else goes along with starting one of these up. If Uber and Lyft are gone, you’ll have less competition but you’ll still have to keep your take lower since the government wants drivers paid more. Might not be record profits but keep any overhead low and you should do fine. Enjoy.

This would not even be a thing if Drivers would quit Cherry Picking. I do Uber where i live and on Average i make $17 to $20 an Hour after i have already Fuel Up. Minimum Wage where am at is $7.25 an Hour and i come close to triple my hourly wages by accepting ever call. U see to many videos on youtube where drivers are so picky that they want to accept only certain calls and if this was never a thing then they would easily make more then Min Wage in there area. Now keep in mind i live in a Area of only 300K population. Minneapolis has a total of 419,508 as of 2024. That is almost 119,508 people more then my city which i know for sure in that city before fuel they can easily make close to $25 to $30 an hour. The next biggest city for me is Dallas TX and i see Uber drivers making anywhere between $350 to $400 a night by working in Dallas each day before fuel. The main issue is 2 things. 1. Picky Drivers and Drivers wanting to Cherry Pick. The second biggest thing is Drivers that want Vehicles that burn way to much fuel like SUV or Trucks. SUV and Trucks are not worth it. I have a 2020 Toyota Camry SE and i average about 35 to 40 MPG. I fuel up about once every 2 days. I work 5 days a week at 8 hours a day. QUIT CHERRY PICKING.

Drivers will only make money if they don't accept too many offers. Then Uber and Lyft will have to raise driver pay. Too many drivers are accepting low offers, so that's what they will offer. Drivers should not go below a certain pay. I suggest $30/hr. Too bad the app is take it or leave it, otherwise drivers could put into a counter offer to Uber/Lyft offers. They really need surge pay in certain situations. Drivers aren't getting surge pay - but Uber and Lyft are charging surge prices. And, I call this "acceptance threshold" what you call "cherry picking". Don't go below your minimum pay rate. Also, it is very important recognize surge times and adjust your rate accordingly. Don't take what are normally surge prices if they don't pay you for surge. If no one takes rush hour, airport rides, concerts, bar nights, bad weather, then Uber and Lyft might have to give drivers the surge pay.

@@vshah1010 Yeah but when u get Drivers that Cherry Pick and decline 80% of the calls then this is what happens. If u are making above your City Min Wage before expenses then that pretty good. I accept every call that i get from Uber and make anywhere between $17 to $20 an hour and in my market that pretty good consider min wage where am at is $7.25 an hour. And as far as Surge Pricing goes i hit every single Surged area and always get my surge fee. I even double check after each trip. But try to get $30 an hour is kinda hard to get working a W-2 Job unless u have a College Degree. Where i live the best u might get is around $10 an hour and that is without a College Degree. So drivers that are losing there rights to Minnapolis that on them and they deserve every bit of it for waiting to Cherry Pick.

@@user-kf7vc3gu2i Insurance gets paid once a month, Phone gets paid once a month. Gas for me i fill up Once every 2 days. Wear and Tear, Dont have no issues with that because i have a brand new car. But let me give you a few tips since we are on the topic of Wear and Tear on the car. Breaks on your car can last a long time if u would go gentle on the breaks and not hit the breaks hard like a 18 year old, Tires i go through tires once every 6 months. I have no issue with my car and nothing really wrong with it because it is brand new. So with it being brand new i spend $80 on a Oil Change once every 3k miles. When u bring up Vehicle Insurance and Phone cost u act like ur paying that stuff daily. It only once a month that u have to pay both of those things. I fuel up and still make way more then you and my acceptance right is wonderful....

@@user-kf7vc3gu2i But just a FYI, U might want to stop decline calls because Uber is back at it with Deactivations. I had a family member that did Uber Eats which is the same company for Uberx and they removed him from decline calls.

People really don't understand economics.....consumers and producers as a whole are rational. If thousands of Minneapolis residents are willing to drive for Uber than it must be a net benefit to them, otherwise, they would get a replacement job. Why anyone thinks the goverment needs to involve itself in the affairs of consumers and producers is beyond me....

What about drivers!? They are used as slaves without making any money, how can drivers support their families , don't think about riders only!? How did they managed in the old days!!? Drivers have no saying in this , want drivers to stay pay them what drivers trully deserves.thwres no cheap rides, wanna free rides get your own car, and will see the expenses of keeping a car running , gas is expensive, insurance, maintenance, who pays for that ah!!!? Costumers, that don't give any tips ah!!! The company's give drivers 70 % no! They take 70% that's what drivers pay for everything not the company's investigate them!! Drivers are inocent , working for free , the company get richer by the hard workers drivers do, don't think about riders lol😅 think about the drivers ,they have expenses also??!!!!! Drivers work hard so others can get free cheap rides , and company's they get everything , again investigate them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😮
