I'm glad to see there is so much more awareness about endometriosis now days. Back when I was having severe issues with endo there wasn't much awareness out there. Smart phones, social media and KZfaq didn't exist yet either when I struggled the most with the disease. It's so cool that now days you can just pick up your phone and look up any information whenever you need, or you can go online and get on social media and find other people, or groups online that have the disease and connect with them. KZfaq is one of the greatest creations ever. Anything you need info on, or anything you need help with, you'll most likely find many videos on any topic you can think of. I wish I would've had all of the technology we have today back then because it would've helped me so much and would've made a big difference.

Kind of true but that doesn't mean women get help easier in the real life. I suffer from pelvic pain for 14 years now and no doctor has ever told me i might have this disease.

Just had laparoscopic endo surgery. Lol definitely wasn’t back to doing yoga and cardio kickboxing within 2 weeks, or working from home the next day. Excision surgery is great, but I think we should present more realistic expectations for recovery when they excise off multiple different organs

I had both severe endometriosis and fibroids. My pain and problems with the disease would be so severe I would end up in the ER constantly and many hospital stays. Long story short... I ended up having to have a hysterectomy when I was only 24 years old. I had everything removed and my ovaries were all that was left. After the hysterectomy I felt a lot better and had been pain free for the most part over the years except for a few issues off and on, but I never considered these issues to be on the same level or anywhere near the severity of pain and symptoms that I had prior to my surgery, so I've never thought much of it. I'm almost 39 now and I'm starting to have some issues coming up again that are concerning me and I'm not sure if it's related to my past issues with endo or not. Most of the problems now seem to be mainly involving my bowels and have been diagnosed as gastrointestinal problems, but some of the symptoms feel very similar to what I had felt before. I've had bowel problems for a long time too, even back when I was struggling with the endo, but within the last 2 years things have taken a turn for the worst. I've had 4 very severe episodes and ended up in the hospital again with each one. I've had many mild to moderate flare ups with this as well off and on between the severe ones, followed by periods of remission. The diagnosis the hospital has given is that I have Ulcerative colitis. I wonder though if this could possibly be a reoccurrence of endometriosis, or maybe some adhesions could've been left behind when I had my hysterectomy and it couldve attached to my bowels? Could this happen, and can it happen many years later even after years of remission? I've also read that endometriosis has a connection to Ulcerative colitis. Or maybe a misdiagnosis of Ulcerative colitis altogether?

If you didn't have excision surgery, getting a hysterectomy doesn't do anything to help endo. Only excision can cut lesions and you'll only have a 20% chance of recurrence.

Finding a specialist doctor who wants to operate is a challenge. Dr. Laveaux was my doctor. I've been hospitalized 6 times in a year. I have a consistent issue with ascities and pain. I lost my job due to endometriosis. I had a ufe on my fibroids due to urinary incontinence. I dont want to take lupron and orilissa is not helpful. I had blood clots last year and cannot take birth control. These doctors do not want to operate on me and I do not know why. Dr. Ken Sinervo in Atlanta is the only endometriosis specialist who is willing to operate. I wish I could find someone in Chicago.

I had a laparoscopy with Dr. Sean George in Chicago and I was able to get pregnant a few months after the surgery. I asked him for the surgery, he made me get a colonoscopy and an ultrasound before hand which showed an endometrioma and then went ahead with surgery. Even if the tests don't show anything I'd still get the surgery because endo doesn't show on ultrasound.

I had spotting for a month then spotting stopped for a week only and turned into a heavy bleeding with big clots, I never knew I had fibroids and I never had any problems with periods before. Doctor had to do my D&C to stop the bleeding because she said I have thick lining that’s why I am bleeding but there is also a small fibroid, next day of my D&C I started birth control pill and it’s been 8 months now I am keep taking the birth control pill to control the bleeding because once I stopped the pill and I started bleeding again and that was again non stop bleeding so I started the pill again😭 pill is making me so fat, I was already overweight but with pill I am already 30 pounds more heavier than before, I don’t know what to do , how I can stop the pill if my bleeding is non stop and is it because of that fibroid? Should I get a fibroid removal surgery?

Hey hun def consider laparoscopic surgery to test for endometriosis. I had painful periods since a teen and in my 20s I had constant pelvic&sexual pain and it was stage II endometriosis. I'm sorry you're in pain! I hope you get the treatment you need.❤

Find a doctor that specializes in Endometriosis, give them your symptoms, don't minimize anything, let them know that it's affecting your quality of life, and if there's an exam you want, tell them what you want to do.
