UCLA showing that they are a really solid team on both sides of the ball vs LSU.

This was one of the best breakdowns I've seen yet. SO GOOD. Sidenote, can we give props to how well these UCLA receivers block?
@stvsueoka13 жыл бұрын
also the dude at 10:48 who you called the fullback is actually kyle philips, the slot receiver who broke for the TD on the play before ... you can also see this dude blocking on the charbonnet screen pass earlier and leveling a receiver

They ran those Speed Pulls all game where they have WRs on bunch formation lined as an H-Back pulling across the line on run plays. I’ve never seen that before. Those WRs came in to the game looking for some contact looking for a dog fight. Great game plan.

@@7srchoed Very impressive how aggressive those guys were and their ability to get there. I was thinking these have to be the fastest full backs I've ever seen. Good to know they were WR's that were getting the job done.

What I love about Chip, is when something works, he keeps doing it... aggressively. On that Y Cross play, he got a big play from it and then went into no huddle to repeat the exact same play on the very next down. He's so good at beating a team down to secure a win.
@coachescaviar88983 жыл бұрын
He does bring a mentality to play calling that not many people have. Glad to see him making defenses uncomfortable again!

I was at the game... I got to say the biggest impact in the run game was the receivers. The O-Line did an amazing job, but the receivers were next level in terms of blocking. That's something different that college football has not seen.
@INoticeTooMuch13 жыл бұрын
What? Receivers blocking is not new, just a lot of them are prima donnas who don’t want to. When they do though, it’s a beauty.

I loved the evolution of the Outside Zone or OZ from about 9-10 years ago to now. From Lateral Rip & Run to the next hat over to now having uncovered lineman now skip pull to pick up anyone trying to fill the gap or scraping over. Still reading the DT or the A Gap player. It really brilliant way to run it looking at it again after the game. Great Analysis.
@coachescaviar88983 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I know that I personally am much more willing to run it with pullers to help from having so many negative plays. When people were ripping and running it seemed like it was either a really big play or a negative play.

6:38 How bout the 180 pound receiver selling out for the block and decleating that corner? That same guy lowers the boom again as the lead blocker at 10:47. Love to see it. Perfect example of what I think is gonna separate UCLA from the other top PAC-12 teams this year. They play with a ton of heart and discipline, and have a singular, team-oriented mindset. Schools like Oregon and USC, on the other hand, seem like they rely purely on individual talent and athleticism but lack the cohesiveness and "juice" that UCLA brings.

Slight quibble to this phenomenal video. At the 11:05 min mark that is the wide receiver Kyle Phillips with the lead block around the end. Not the fullback. UCLA has quite a few plays where the receivers pull, trap and act like OL. Good job though
