this is best solution for interaction grass. Other methods do bend foliage only at player location, array doesn't work in other solutions for npc or other. Thank you for this great help after 3 years you showed it.

for me. it is not working, same as other guys replied. So I changed invisible mat blend mode to "Masked", not "translucent". and make opacity mask to '0'. It works now.

Hey. I've done everything like you did and all works all the way up until i add that transparent material. At that point the grass no longer moves. When i make the material opaque it moves again. Could you think of something i could check about this?

try Blend mode: masked and plug your constant 0 to Opacity Mask. For the sphere in ThirdPersonBP I had to disable Cast shadows and override Distance Field Self Shadow Bias with a value of 200 or higher.

iam using grass meshes and when i add the grass bend nodes to my wind wpo the grass have these black streaks all over it any idea why its happening?using ue5

@@nikolasherold Haven't tried again in the 5.0 release but I never figured it out on pre release versions, I ended up using an old method by Codelikeme>kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j59oi9peu8fRcqc.html&ab_channel=CodeLikeMe..you might also want to try this foliage troubleshoot by William Faucher, it didn't solve my grass mesh but it did solve another one of my problem with WPO based tree.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d9hjqdmqzM_WfIk.html&ab_channel=WilliamFaucher

Setting the blend mode of the grass material to translucent fixes this issue, but I assume that's a bug with UE5. In UE4 it works like a charm.

This works fine after changing the material to masked instead of translucent, but the grass also "interacts" with the landscape so it flies in the air xD

If someone has a similar problem just add "ComponentMask" right before plugging it into world position offest and use only RG components

I tag both, because I've tested the code in both. And it works for both. What's so annoying about me informing people that a lot of things work the same in ue4 and ue5. At the same time, I inform people that there probably are even more tutorials that could work for both versions. UE5 is the future, and probably in the future people will look for ue5 tutorials not ue4. I want my videos to be useful in the future. What's so annoying about having 3 extra symbols in the title?

the link is broken? wanna follow along but without the content its pointless. maybe fix the link to the material? there are a ton of these grass or unreal engine tutorials, but without the content and material provided in the tutorial, honestly its all a waste of time and energy cuz the process will never be the same, the concept is there but it never insures the correct method cuz everything is different. people dont learn as well as when they're actually doing the project but without the content or material provided, like ive said it becomes useless cuz the project is different, just basically watch and try to remember everything in mind lol, not very an effective way of learning these EU tutorials in my opinion cuz you never get to follow along, you basically just watch it and try hard to memories it by creating your own that will never yeilds the same result, lame.

It will work with any kind of grass or foliage. Just choose anything (in my case I started with some fern), locate the parent material, locate the nodes leading to the world position offset and then follow along from 02:00 . And with how short the tutorial is, I found it quite easy to listen, pause the video, do the stuff in my project, and then continue with the next step. (to be fair, it worked perfectly from the start for static meshes, but getting it to work with the player character was a bit of trial & error)
